Many individual catholics (not enough however) resisted the Third Reich. The institutional church however appeased and even aided Hitler.

I neither Green nor Socialist but still think your logic is flawed.

The greatest positive of Jesus and the traditional and original Christian faith is that it respected people's right to choose to reject or accept God at any time in their lives.

The popular story of the "footsteps in the sand" and "the prodigal son" represent this important aspect of Christianity.

The Green's generally support social freedom, that is the right to live your life how you see fit, as long as it does not illegally and adversely affect other persons.

Senator Nettle's T-Shirt slogan, while perhaps offensive, certainly was not asking you to live your life in any other way than in the manner you see fit. She was however asking Mr Abbott (and others) to afford her the same level of respect.

1) conduct an annonymous poll next Sunday at your church asking if people think the parliament made the right decision re: Ru486. I think you will be suprised how many think they did.

2) Print out this thread, and book yourself in for a half hour chat with your priest. I think he may be able to offer some guidance in the way that jesus would like his followers to act in such situations.
