I am actually tipping against. Form goes out the window and this run of 5 games has to break. We have been giving sides a sniff and if we give Port a sniff on their home game, under the pressure they have been under, they will play like it’s their grand final. I think they will run over the top of us with momentum and possibly crowd affirmation led umpiring howlers.

Port by less than a kick.

Port play better when they've been humiliated recently. Bounce back etc. Sort of hoped they'd unconvincingly win against west coast to pump their tyres a bit.

We're so far and away the better team, but I can see them getting over the top of us by a couple goals.

Too early to pick who is in better form. Would we have done better against the Eagles over there? Would they have done better against the Blues over here?

Their form has been patchy but they have played against Geelong and Eagles. They beat Sydney at home (is that a sign of being a good team anymore?) but lost to Essendon away (as we did).

Nah I am not playing the “we will smash them” game. I think it will be a lot closer.

Crows by 13 points.

I expect this to go down a similar path to what usually happens in a Power home Showdown in recent times. They get the jump, then we claw back and build a 4-5 goal lead, then they come back in which their crowd starts their ‘Powaaa’ chant with Boak beating his chest, but then we silence the crowd and steady to win by 3-4 goals.

Ha! You nailed it. The perfect description, especially Boak beating his chest ha ha.

Given our current injury situation and also the fact that it's their home game and they're probably due for a win, I think they'll win this one by 3-4 goals.

I think this will be one of the games that will define their season in one way or another. There's a lot on the line for them this week and they'll be massively pumped up because if they lose this one they'll suddenly find themselves 2-3 games plus percentage away from the ladder leaders.

And that’s one reason I’m glad they’re coming back from rock hard WA !

Their ability to congest the opposition forward line concerns me. Our forwards need space to operate effectively.

Couple that with their inate ability to score flukey goals could see them win a close one.

Lots of pent up angst with the pear will get them up I reckon.

-getting spanked last time
-losing their table scraps (which turned out to be much better than their main course) to us in Chyna
-our dastardly employees/media plants trying to ruin the career of one of their poor innocent youngins

Reckon they'll go full bananna.

They already went full banana a few Showdowns ago. Or do you think their supporters will upgrade to throwing full bunches of bananas instead?

I think the Carlton game shows that you dont have to be a good side to play some good footy if the opposition lets you. My concern is that if they do get in a position like we let Carlton have that they will have just enough quality to keep it up. I dont rate Port this year, but they can score quickly and we can go to shit quickly. Hopefully, we are good enough to hold them off. Either way, I think this one will be a close one.

Yeah, that is massive. Sauce got the points against Ryder last time around, but Sauce has not been in great form. But given that Ryder will be in his second game back and travelling from the worst surface in professional world sport at the moment, it gives us a huge bonus. I am very, very happy with the draw leading into this one. It is a disgrace that any team has to play on that surface though. Not good enough.

I'm expecting some reports if it gets out of hand on the scoreboard. Line in the sand stuff. We have owned them too often, Ken will want a physical response to get the old-school supporters back on side.

Never sure about the showdowns, always the chance that emotion brings the lesser team up and weight of expectation brings the better team down.

Hope we have it in the bag by 3/4 time.
