We've passed the halfway point of the season so what has the ladder been doing this season (beyond win percentages frustrating most). Let's extrapolate!
Did you know:
- Three rounds is the most consecutive rounds a club has stayed in the same ladder position;
- The Bears, Phoenix, Roys and Wonders have not dropped out of the eight this season. The Bombers haven't been out of the eight since playing their first match in round two;
- Teams are 5-2 after the bye this season;
- The Old Boys are the only team yet to finish a round in the eight (highest ninth in rounds four and five);
- The Warriors are the only team to not finish a round in a lower ladder position than the round before;
- This season has been much higher scoring than last. After eight rounds last year 9189 points had been scored compared to 9488 this season.
Ladder Progression by Round (finishing position):
*Pink/salmon highlighted cells represent the byes.
Ladder Progression by Round (premiership points):
*Purple/lavender highlighted cells represent the byes.
Ladder sorted by best offence (ave points for per game):
Top of the table Warriors sit way ahead of all the other teams in terms of scoring. Fred leader The Filth Wizard would be a big part of that although they also seem to have also employed Malcolm Blight over the off-season as qoach. Third-placed Gumbies are following the Ross Lyon playbook of '12 qoals should be enough'.
Ladder sorted by best defence (ave points against per game):
The third-placed Gumbies, and interestingly, the twelfth placed Royals are each more than a goal better defensively per week than the rest of the competition. Cadsky is the Royals' full back so one suspects it's the rest of the Gold City defence that is doing much of the heavy lifting.
