Fall and Fall of Big Bash

I think the Big Bash is going well and people need to stop over analysing it. Before it existed there wasn't big crowds for Domestic Cricket. I think shortening the season further would only reduce interest overall.

With some exceptions crowds at International Cricket are not huge. Some of the BBL games will get more to them than the one day and T20 series against Pakistan.

As for Test Cricket the crowds in Perth were good but the Scorches will get more, Adelaide was amazing but the Strikers will get close to 50k on New Years and match that. That's all for one of the biggest Test series we have seen.

Boxing Day will be huge as will the first couple of days in Sydney but they tend to fall away.

The BBL is far from perfect but overall in terms of sporting crowds outside the AFL it does well. Some just need to get some perspective.

Once again it depends on your perspective, in some smaller states they love it and the whole reason it was brought in, to give the smaller states a fighting chance and weaken the bigger states.

Victoria v Tasmania got a bigger crowd than you’ll ever see for a Melbourne v Hobart game, the domestic comp was starting to get crowds to see a successful Victorian team with players people actually knew.

No it wasn't (see how the biggest state has won 4, smallest has won 0). 8 teams is about TV money.

Yeah we know Vic v Tas almost half-filled the MCG. Once.

The typical Melbourne derby crowd at the MCG is bigger.

Last years crowds seemed to be a bounce back towards 2018 type numbers, but still a fair way below the peak of 2015-2017

Biggest decline is in the two Melbourne clubs, especially the Stars who have gone being finals chokers to just being shithouse.

By any measure, Strikers and Hurricanes have dropped off more than the Renegades.

ST so is Cummins playing for the stars.Surely if you are going to have this T20 crap with all Australian players available you have players play for their state team and perhaps allow each state to have 2 outsiders in their teams.
Surely if your going to have AFL, every player plays in his own state.
Surely if you have local sport, every player must only represent their own suburb.

You do realise players move States to play in the beloved Sheffield Shield?
You do realise there are even Test cricketers repressing countries they didn't grow up in?

There's plenty of cricket for everyone, if you don't like the BBL, just ignore it.

Guess what,I do ignore it most of the time.

The Scorchers have lost a heap of players to other sides simply because they could not get a game.
Some move for money but not that often.

If you restricted players playing for their home state, there would be a lot of excellent players not getting a game.

I will say at the match last night the Scorchers are playing up the Wild Wild West theme this year which got old very quickly (announcers with terrible cowboy accents, teams coming out of the tunnel through a saloon door). Even the kids were getting sick of it.

oh, I thought you meant the song from the 80s :(

Have you tried getting into it?
I assure you have got into T20 cricket when Maxi has been on the field especially when he bats. The ACB stuffed up his red ball cricket and biggest waste of talent I have seen.Expected to come in at the 12 over mark of aT20 game and hit out or get out because of the run rate.
