Only became an official thing announced by CA since BBL|09.

What happened to the deal with 2-year contracts, so we could ensure internationals would stay here for the whole season?

Who were those players, and where the **** are they now?

This is a pretty embarrassing standard of names for our finals series.

The team sheets tonight were grim. I actually turned it off cause I couldn’t care less about half the players.

The only one I know of is Finn Allen.
And he was disappointing.

Unless the tournament is shortened by a few weeks, you won't get many players committing.

honestly i think this seasons been the highest quality since pre-covid times. i don’t like t20s but it was entertaining & the couple of games i went to had a great atmosphere

Yeah I agree. Crowds are up, and while the standard isn’t always the greatest there’s been a ton of really close, fun games. Was also good to get a season that went down to the wire in the way that it did.

We citing one off performances to try and prove a point?

We could literally do that for days.
Ok then. Chris Jordan is the 8th highest wicket-taker in T20 history, and is England's 2nd highest wicket-taker in T20Is. The man is absolute quality, one of the best T20 cricketers of all time.

That you seek to diminish that instead of just taking the L and moving on says more about you than it says about Chris Jordan.

Chris Jordan was always 1 of the best death bowlers in the comp.

I found last year he last his mojo a bit. I haven’t checked the stats so this might be wrong but that’s my gut feel.

He’s definitely been back to his best this season and is a vital cog in the hurricanes machine.

Ellis and Jordan is such a good death overs combo.

The tournament starts and finishes at the right time. There is no way the TV networks let Tennis have those two weeks to themselves with no real Cricket content.

Fair enough.

But the length of the tournament is one of the reasons they're not attracting big names or are unable to keep them for the whole series.

If they want to finish this weekend it should start on Boxing Day, but I’m not sure why they want to drag it out until Australia Day when they refuse to play on Australia Day.

Yeah, there was an article last year that said otherwise - agents saying their players often took ILT20 contracts ahead of BBL simply because they were offered first.

I remember that article last year.

The same thing has happened again this year though.
Players are getting a good lick for the BBL and then going to another comp before it finishes.

Laurie Evans calls for a shorter Big Bash League window as star import departs on the eve of finals

Laurie Evans said it several times last year.

Why do you think a lot of players aren't committing to the full season?
Because they can get paid more elsewhere, but don't want to admit this publicly.

The same players don't complain about the IPL running for 2 Months.
