Farren Ray

i want us to play all younger ones in the nab cup, see how they goin

Agree with that.

And like most here I want game time for the younger blokes. But there is just no point delisting blokes for their age.
I think next season we will see some older blokes start making way for all the talent we have.

I must say next year is the most exciting time I can remember at the club.
All these young guys are actually good young players. Who would have thought a couple of seasons ago the Johno might not be in the best 22?
Now that is a great sign for the club. Really looking forward to seeing them play next season.

I have a feeling if we keep Ray, he will have a blinder next season..

At the start of the year before he got injured, everyone was all Ray this and Ray that.. Lets not forget he has had a injury troubled year.

I think he is worth keeping for one more year.. Share price is too low to sell.
He can only turn it around from here.

De-list >> Eagleton

Farren has no intention of staying.

It's up to the Bulldogs to get a deal done because otherwise he'll go through the pre-season draft," said Ray's manager, Rick Olarenshaw, who spoke with Fantasia yesterday.

Eagleton has a huge tank he runs all day. He puts preassure on the ball, yes later in the game he now struggles to kick the 50m. He is fast, he is a long kick (early in the game), he is not a bad mark, and can play multiple positions.
He has more up sides than down. I bet he plays all games next season if not injured.

Can I ask if your only basing your judgement on his ability on one set shot?

It's not only that one set shot.. He turns the ball over a lot. He is an outside player who has got nothing to give us anymore.. Ward, Hill, Addison can cover Eagles game plus add more to what he cannot do..

Addision will play an important tagging outside midfielder role next season..
Shut down your Bateman type roles... Eagle can no longer match these players if we want to get anywhere.

Eagle is eligible to be listed as a veteran on our list in season 2010.

wow I didn't know that.

I wonder what was said to him at his end of season meeting?

He seems very upset and angry with the club. It's not like they didnt give him oppurtunities.

We must find a trade for him now.

Hardly touched the ball after quarter time in Williamstowns Preliminary final loss to Port Melbourne either I heard on the radio post match streaming.

Some one said on this board (see link below) that he and Worsfold were talking earlier this season.

This all seems very pre-meditated.

Comon lets hope we don't need Eagle for the 2010 season..
By then our midfield should be the enzy of the league with Griffen, Higgins, Cross, Ward, Boyd, Hill, Reid...Ohh yeah and Cooney...

I can guarantee that Olarenshaw is pushing this. Farren would stay if the right deal isn't sorted out(wouldn't go in to the PSD). The club is happy enough to keep him if it can't get a good deal. Unfortunately somebody's whispering poor advice in his ear.

Should aim your criticism at his manager.

As for Ray's pre-lim down at Willy - yea that was a shocker.

I hope the club does a stock-take of anyone else handled by Olarenshaw, to work out where the next bush fires are likely to occur.

I get the feeling that this may just be a taste of things to come, and the real headaches will happen when the Gold Coast recruits for season one.

But the criticism still rightly falls on Ray's shoulders, the client controls the manager, the manager does not control the client.

Even if we get a 3rd round pick for him, its better than getting nothing if he goes into the pre season draft ! What an "A Hole" farren ray is if he does that to us ! I hope he gets overlooked in the pre season draft if he goes in it !

cheers

Cooney and Aker are.

At the end of the day its up to Farren, if he really wants to go and doesnt get a trade he wont stick around.

Football supporters blinded loyalty makes me laugh at times.

Last year we were all rubbing our hands with glee at Adelaide's expense after having secured Scott Welsh in the PSD & Adelaide received nothing in return.

What comes around goes around.

Bit of difference

28 year old struggling to get a 2 year deal at Adelaide does not hurt them as much as a 22 year old number 4 draft pick who was most likely offered a 3 year deal but who most likely baulked at the money that was on the table, walking on us.

Nothing wrong with him wanting more money and there is nothing wrong with him wanting to leave.

And if he and his manager had of kept quite until after this trade week I would not have an issue with him (or Olarenshaw)

I didn't even feel a grievance when Nathan Brown left the club, it was all above board and we got picks #6 & #20

This takes my feelings back to those I had when un-contracted Luke Penny told us that he wanted to leave the club about 15 minutes before trade week ended, and that we either traded him to St Kilda or he was going to walk into the PSD.

Looking back at that we at least got pick #17 for Luke. We possibly stand to get a lot less here.

Farren told the club last week that he wanted to be traded. It's not his fault that he holds no value in the market place.

Well said. Not his fault he's worth bugger all. I would be filthy if we were trying to pick him up with our second pick. He's only worth what someone is willing to trade for him and nothing less.

It is Farren and his managers fault this hit the media, as I put in an earlier post.

That hardly helps us in getting fair value for him.

Why couldn't they have just stayed quite until after 2pm Friday.

I agree. No subtlety about it. In fact instead of saying 'Ray is requesting a trade' it was said 'Ray quits the Bulldogs'.

Do you seriously think that any club interested in Ray did not already know this ?????
SO what ! Olarenshaw has come out and said it in public. Now we all know what the other 15 clubs already knew.

Up until a day or so ago the club still had open lines with Ray about staying if a deal couldn't be struck with another club. Ricky O has now come out and said that isn't an option. Devaluing his price even lower then it already was.

Pretty unrealistic to think that did not blow any or whatever bargaining power we (the Bulldogs) might have had up until that stage.

Well said

Totally screwed our efforts to get something meaningful for him.

I dont care if we was always going to go, but why couldn't they just sit tight and hold thier mouth's until after 2pm Friday.

Cripes we have no signed contract with him, he could always walk to the PSD or even the National Draft after Friday arvo.

But we did not need the rest of the footballing world knowing that because they were itching to tell the media Farren would not re-sign.

Just an update - Im am in WA and my brother is a real estate agent whose company has been contacted to compile a list of houses for a F. Ray. The contact here in WA is the company behind WC. It looks like he is heading back to play for WC - arent they lucky ?
Couple of things
1) I think its nieve to think that contacts are not happening during the season. Worsfold and others probably talked to him at various times. You cant tell me that Judd suddenly decided to leave and the Blues didnt know.
2) Unless the Eagles can get something better than pick 36 for Seaby AND they are feeling generous than I cant see Bullies getting any better than pick 36. Ray's kicking lackes penetration and despite having 4/5 seasons in system hasnt improved - and probably never will.
