Re: Farrer League

with rennie leaving hume league there is a spot for the rock there..
if this is aloud to happen there will be no farrer league its on death ears with 6 teams.. hume league need to come to the fold and be realistic and pass on a couple of sides and make a strong 8 team comp b4 theses sides leave, otherwise the remaining 4 teams will have no where to go and cya later farrer.
A spot for the rock??? wtf
The hume never wanted the coreen league clubs and would be very happy if they all got up and left, but that doesn't mean that there would be more spots up for farrar league clubs. The hume league has got too many teams now so it would make a little sense for clubs to leave it and go to the farrer league but can anyone tell me why a hume league club would want to leave a good stable league with a junior set up in place to a league that 2 of the 6 teams want to leave and no juniors?
Can't see why the rock would be allowed in by the hume league clubs

Re: Farrer League

Gully couldn't hack it in the RFL last time they were in, what makes them think it's going to be any easier? I hope they don't end up throwing the left over Farrer league clubs in the RFL as it would ruin a good league.

Re: Farrer League

My thoughts on the whole restructure of the local leagues has been well documented, and especially again in yesterdays paper. I think its a shame that CAK and TRYC believe its in the best interests of football in the riverina to leave the Farrer League to die. After a discussion with a Hume league official, there has been an unofficial vote of 11 clubs already saying "no" to TRYC entering the hume league for next season. Thank god the Hume League has some common sense, and I hope that the Riverina League officials have the same opinion

Matt totally agree with you, but my opinion is that there should be changes in the riverina to get the standard of the Riverina back up to where it belongs. 10 or more years ago people all over the football communities have in oneway or another heard of the riverina. Now its not that wide spread and it is hard to attract player from interstate.

here is my view on a revamp of leagues.
RFL

EWK
Mango
W / Tigers
Griffith
Leeton
Narrandera
GGGM
T / Park
Coolamon
Coleambally = 10 Teams

Hume League

M / Magpies
Osborne
BB Saints
Howlong
Jindera
Culcairn - Walla (as i have heard rumours that this is on the cards)
RW Tigers
Billabong Crows
CDHBU
Henty = 10 Teams

Farrar League

The Rock
Collingullie
Marrar
Temora
Northern Jets
Nth Wagga – Rivcoll
Lockhart
Holbrook = 8 Teams

Re: Farrer League

Well what a turn up for the books, apparently the Farrer league was well represented in the special meeting on Monday night. yep!

Not to many happy people left the meeting bar those in black and white and CAK. Surely these two clubs are only protecting their own interests, why should they be expected to look after the league when the league those little to look after itself. Rivcoll gave a 30 minute tear jerking eulogy which made most present a bit weary / sleepy.

I like most did not believe this would be the result from the super special secret meeting. However, a little birdie has told me the same suprising result maybe the result at super dooper special secret meeting 17.

happy days ahead for the FFL,

Chewy ya dead

this could be viable, but not this year obviously, i think the restructuring of the juniors to reflect the same junior structure across the 3 leagues is an obvious ploy by the southern board so that in 2010 or maybe later, they can force clubs to change leagues without too many issues relating to junior structure etc. Which is a fair enough idea.

Re: Farrer League

What would be wrong with previous Farrer league clubs rejoining the competition? The two leagues could be-

Farrer F.L. (10 clubs)
*CAK
*TRYC
*Marrer
*Temora
*Northern Jets
*Rivcoll
*Lockhart
*Osborne
*Holbrook
*Culcairn

Some of the Hume league clubs would complain about the travel however, they would recruit more from the Wagga region rather than Albury/Wodonga and at the end of the day they only travel there once a year.

Hume F.L. (10 clubs)
*Walla
*R/W Tigers
*Henty
*BB Saints
*Howlong
*Murray Magpies
*CDHBU
*Billabong Crows
*Coleamblly
*Jindera

This competition would give some of the lower rung clubs a better chance of competing against towns/districts more of their own size and would lessen the ever widening gulf between top and bottom side in the Hume F.L.:)

Clubs such as Culcairn and Holbrook currently have 75% of their lists being ex locals now living in Albury or recruits from the Albury Area.
Only about 25% of their senior players live in those towns.

Where are they going to find 35 footballers to recruit from Wagga?
Especially as TRYC, Henty, Osborne and Lockhart are all closer to Wagga, not to mention the RFL clubs.

Virtually no ex Holbrook or Culcairn locals live in Wagga, and believe me those ex locals living in Albury won't travel to Temora, Ariah Park, Marrar etc as its 200km away from Albury, especially when they can play for 20 footy clubs within 80km of Albury.

Learn from the past, why did Culcairn and Holbrook leave the Wagga based leagues 25 years ago?
Because a lot of their good locals went to live in Albury and played O&M, TDFL, Hume etc, and they struggled to recruit Albury players because they didn't want to travel 200km to play.

Lockhart and Osborne may be better placed heading to Wagga due to geography, but I'm sure they are happy where they are.

Judging by the Murray Magpies scenario, it wont matter what the existing Hume clubs want any way.

Re: Farrer League

The word from AFL House is that if either the Hume or RFL accept either TRYC or Collingullie, then the AFL will move the remaining clubs to that league and force a split.

Even though the Hume league clubs are indicating a decisive NO vote, if this was to change and they accept TRYC, then Lockhart, Henty, Culcairn & Holbrook could find themselves in the Farrer league for 2009.

The most pressure is on the RFL and in particular the Wagga clubs – if they vote Collingullie in then North Wagga, Eastern Hawks & MCUE will find themselves in the Farrer league in 2009. The AFL does not want to see the RFL become a Wagga based competition as it could start to see the rapid decline of footy in the MIA.

Re: Farrer League

Well congrats to AFL House they have won the battle. As much as we all hang sh#t on little old AFL Wagga they still have enough pull to make sure they get there own way. Looks like CAK will remain in the Farrer and lose 5-6 of their best players and TRYC are in alsorts losing at least 7 of their best 10 from this year. I can just see Mr Habel sitting in his oval office now chuckling away as all of a sudden Temora and Marrar will be half competetive again, and from the outside the Farrer League will be alive and kicking. I still can't believe that CAK and TRYC are being held back in a league which is only being placed on life support soley for Rivcoll and Marrar who we all know have no future in the football world and could not be accepted into any other league in the region.:confused::cool:

I p'd myself laughing at that one!! :thumbsu::thumbsu: I had a look at the 'article' (piece of crap may be more accurate) he wrote a few days ago and his idiocy continues to astound me.

What a disgraceful post by panjo, has no idea. Great move by the Hume and Riverina Leagues to reject the applications - the Farrer League is definitely salvageable, as soon as a uniform junior structure is established across the Riverina, the Farrer league will once again prosper - hopefully to the good old days of the late 90's early 00's.

Tell me how you can have a uniform junior structure when once again the two teams on life support (Marrar & Rivcoll) can not provide junior teams. Gee the kids would be jumping out of their skins to play every second week.

Re: Farrer League

Now that the forum is known and I know that the Southern Regional Board, AFL house and the Advertiser read our comments whether gossip or factual. I would like to put a question to all parties mentioned.

I hear whispers that the Board is going to make some big changes for "2010" season with Farrer, RFL and Hume.

The question Iam wanting to ask to the Southern Regional Board and AFL House is what's on their agenda for "2010" and how big are the changes going to be.

If your plans are to merge clubs or even move clubs between leagues, I think you should speak to the clubs now and work with each other to make sure the changes will suit all involved.

I think forcing changes on clubs maybe at the end of the "09" season will cause trouble for everyone, please open the agenda up and let all involved work together for the greater of Football.

Re: Farrer League

Ive got a great idea!!! Kick out Rivcoll Bushpigs or get them to merge with Nth Wagga or something. They are a disgrace. Getting smashed week in week out, winning one game in two yrs? The club cant compete with the Rugby Union clubs (Reddies & Aggies) on campus, even when the bushpigs pay their players, and the rugby boys play for nothing!!!

na they have gone 2 years without a win havent they? look out wagga when they finally win a game though!!

Re: Farrer League

The only hope the bushpigs have of winning anything next year, is if they come across the same oil well that gullie stumbled across this yr, to buy some quality players. Like gullie they should sign around maybe 15!! Wonder what will happen to gullie when the well dries up?? No big noters then.

You got no idea do you, really absolutely nothing at all!! It is quite obvious that these teams will have to merge or become obsolete if they can't field the teams - they are both basically Wagga sides so that won't be too hard. Were you the inspiration for that mand Simple Minds??

All this has been discussed previously KJ.

Gee Chaddles you really have out done me with some of your brillance. First of all you have pretty much agreed with me, then you have accused me of being in a mand (whatever that is?).

does anyone know if the jets have a coach or any recruits so far? been quiet out that way.. also any recruits at rivcoll?

I have pretty much agreed with you?? So me saying that the Farrer league will restructured and once again prosperous with more teams (possibly 8) is pretty much agreeing with you.... Pure Mensa stuff once again.
