Re: Farrer League

Been a lot of irrelevant dribble on this forum over the previous few pages....
Would be interesting to know how many of you preachers have actually watched a farrer league game (other than finals and excl. Gullie v's The Rock) this past season.

The standard of competion was ridiculous (esp v's Rivcoll who you play every 5th weekend).

The major issue i predict clubs are and will face is retaining quality footballers.

Who is going to want to stay on at a club like Gullie and The Rock who only had competitive games against each other. Where is the challenge??

I know for a fact that a handful of players form both clubs have expressed a desire to leave should the current situation not improve.

TRYC and Gullie are working for the future of their clubs!! Their motivation is there clubs not disbanding the farrer league.

Whilst this won't occur next year it will be very interesting to see how the opposition matches up esp. considering players form both clubs will be moving on due to the structure remaining..

mate i know for a fact there were games this year for the rock especially which were very close games that could have gone either way, to say that they only had competitive games against each other is a joke, fair enough a lot of them werent but there were games which were very competitive!

Agree with you there.. some games were close but only because half a dozen first graders sat them out.

Re: Farrer League

Goes to show the difference in the league. Excluding Langtry and the coach, the rest of Marrar's recruit's would be no more than your average first grader at CAK or TRYC (back pocket/Forward pocket type players).

you trying to say some1 who kicked 70 odd goals in hume (Hilly) key position player with osborne (shirl) or starting midfielder and fullback for reasonably successful rfl club (howard brothers) could not find a descent spot in gullie or rock? find that hard to believe

yeah i agree dick that statement by old mate has no basis whatsoever, obviously never watched any of these players play.

Dikkenberg is going to Tigers isnt he?
Absolum is no sure thing to go to Sydney.
And Rivcoll...going for a couple of has beens again. Stockton still hasnt learnt how to kick and schultz will miss half the year with injury!

yer stocko not much of a kick but wat he lacks in skill he makes up for in courage and attack on the nut

Re: Farrer League

just wondering whats going on with the league? as i understand gullie and the rock have been approved to leave. but need rfl and the hume to accept them. will they accept them?? if they do what happens to marrar temora jets and rivcoll? i hear if the rock keep losing players then its not worth them leaving??? ethically would the rfl teams or hume accept due to the league failing after? is it worth them accepting for the death of the league?

Good morning moist, if they get accepted who knows where that leaves the "farrer league", but i cant see the rfl accepting gullie after the year it just had and all it would do would create a bye. As for the hume league would they really want/require another team how many do they have at the moment 16 or something i dont really think they will either.

If they get rejected does it mean that they are then allowed to appeal to the southern board again?? Cos if so theres no point in the rfl or hume league doing a vote on it

Re: Farrer League

What happens to the Farrer League if The Rock get the nod to leave and Gullie dont? Going on this year Gullie could have 2 teams and still play each other in the GF. For me the Farrer League is dead and looks like Mr Habel and the like have some work to do in the next few months.

Re: Farrer League

with rennie leaving hume league there is a spot for the rock there..
if this is aloud to happen there will be no farrer league its on death ears with 6 teams.. hume league need to come to the fold and be realistic and pass on a couple of sides and make a strong 8 team comp b4 theses sides leave, otherwise the remaining 4 teams will have no where to go and cya later farrer.
