Kane Tenace is very slick. I'm surprised that he hasn't been mentioned. Wojo is lightning. Pearce, Daniel Wells, Jetta, Alwyn Davey and Deledio are all sharp. Rusling is very quick for a big guy as is Franklin.

Hawthorns quickest would be Mark Williams over 20 yards and he'd be in the AFL's elite group. Bateman is no slouch on the toe either although probably not quite as quick as those listed above. Apparently Beau Muston is on the sharp side as well athough that remains to be seen as he is yet to debut.

I think overall, I'd toss a coin between the Geelong pair. Rusling still has exceptional speed over 100m but wouldn't be running 10.8s now that he has bulked up. My guess is that his best would now be 11s-11.2s which is still slippery enough, particularly for a big, leading forward.

Tenace by a nostril.

one thing is for sure...that clip proves deledio is faster than judd. Judd only made any sort of ground on Deledio in the last 5m as Deledio settled to lay the kick off.

Also, Judd not catching up to Deledio (apart from the last 5m) even though Deledio had the ball in his hand. Says a lot

What time of the game was it?, how much running had they both done?, injurys? games played the week before? Rebecca Twiggley:eek:? etc, etc!, Not an accurate guide!

Saw Delidio run down Judd last year and then Braun run down Delidio this year. You would think Judd would be quicker than Braun but those two chase downs don't point to that.
For mind, out of what I have seen I would say Andy Lovett would have to be up there.

Bloody fast too. If they could just learn how to play football you'd be right I reckon! ;)

Apologies to Delidio & Foley (who has had a decent year).

some very fast players off the top of my head are...

Davey brothers (I honestly think aaron is slightly faster)
Wojac
Chris Judd
Danyle Pearce
Brett Deledio
Shannon Byrnes
Daniel Bell
Daniel Wells (2.96 seconds over 20m at the draft camp)
Courtenay Dempsey (Along with Alwyn Davey holds club record for 20m sprint)
Jarred Brennnan is deceptively fast throw this bloke in the GF sprint and he will go alright.
Richard Tambling
Nathan Krakouer ("Nathans time for 20 metres of 2.83 (seconds) puts him up in the top handful of all time, to nearly a thousand players over the last 12, 13 years." - direct quote from abc sport website. http://www.abc.net.au/sport/content/200610/s1756912.htm)

thats all i can think of at the moment, theres a few others tho. and picking just one is hard becoz a race with all these blokes in it over any distance would be extremely close!

if i had to pick one tho id say aaron davey, his defensive chases are still the fastest and the best in the competition IMHO. :D

Aside from Foley and Newman, those guys are the quickest I've seen...

... at running away from a contested ball situation.

Just kidding, mate. Take it as it was intended. :)

that clip of judd chasing deledio was pretty cool... love watching that sort of foty from a neutral perspective, especially when it's against one of the afl's star midfielders over the past 4 yrs

^who knows if she is helping with judd's groin treatment, or was the one who caused it in the first place

Mcleod? He's really fast!
Davey is fast 2

^mcleod is quick but wouldn't be amongst the fastest in the afl... perhaps for endurance however, coz mcleod sure does have a lot of petrol

Jay Neagle would have two be one of the quickest big men.
Runs abit slower than alwyn davey over 20m. i think daveys like 2.75 and jays 2.78

It is one thing to run quick, but quite another to be able to play football as well.

this is where Judd has it over all others.

Kane Tenace for example. He may well record faster times than Wojac in preseason sprints, but you get them out in the heat of the match, Wojac makes him look slow!

The think i like about Wojac is he has the confidence to barge through people and break tackles, which a lot of the small quick players do not. Wojac has an attitude this year, and I love it. his disposal has also improved immeasurably. Against the Kangaroos he was able to break free, then pass well over 50m to an advantage. This would never happen in years passed.

Birdbrain Burton...

Last years Prelim he went up for a mark...didnt get it bought it to ground, then Judd took the Ball....Burton got up and chased him down, Judd got a kick away...thing is Judd ran from top of the goal square to the 50 metre line with one bounce...Burton got his hands on him just as he was kicking....

Filthy the umpire didnt call him up on not bouncing..

I call Burton a 10/90 player...10% Brilliance 90% Crap
