I wonder if the club will trade out guys like Grigg and CEY for late 2nd and 3rd rounders to take a chance with Ben. He's got plenty of talent and smarts but plenty to work on.

Late 3rd rounder and I would be happy to gamble.
Grigg will be delisted, and CEY isn't worth a 3rd rounder (let alone a 2nd rounder).

Int

Jonty Scharenberg 1st or early 2nd round, But Jack Graham would be my pick will 1 year in the squad then replacing Thommo in 2018, a very good like for like. but faster.
All the so called promising talls will be gone before pick 40 to 50, so they will be project type players the crow will be looking at, Ben Jarman is better than pick 50 which is what the Crows get if the finish 5th. next pick 68. only concern for the cost is will they need to use next picks to secure him ie round 3 or 4 2017 difference between pick 24 and 34. But they will all change on the night when the eastern states use drafts points Dropping the Crows round 3 to about pick 40
Also 2017 is the better year for KPP forwards.
But the interesting thing about Jarman is how he has been largely hidden. I would watch him after the under 18 as he will start to play SANFL league, and should spend some time as an inside mid Forward, Question will be do they need someone like a Lyons, Douglas, Cameron.

Sharenberg clearly best of the SA group has shown this his entire junior career. graham not far behind but disposal is Achilles heal. Jarman definetly worth going for but if he does choose Adelaide and another club makes a offer with an early selection let him go. He could be worth a 2nd but late 2 nd at very best which would be close to mid 30''s.

He may become the first father and son, if he doesn't let's hope Edwards does next year, I saw he's playing reserves for the bays at 16

They may keep Grigg for depth and delist VB, CEY will be retained to cover the inevitable injuries
VB will retire and Grigg will be delisted. Both near certainties now.

CEY is contracted for 2017 and will probably be retained. He has almost no trade value anyway.

You look at very recent players like Caleb Daniel and now even Jade Gresham who yes may be small and not overly quick, but are quick of the mind, agile, smart footballers who just know 'how to football' and are doing very well in this "modern game" that we call it where all the rage seems to be height.

While pace is a very handy thing to have and an added bonus, you look at the out and out genuine small forwards and a lot of them aren't that quick. Breust, Devon Smith, Cripps are a few that come to mind. Even Eddie isn't overly quick in terms of top end speed, just quick off the mark.

I have absolutely no issues drafting a player of his type and furthermore I'd back our successful recruiting team to make the correct call when push comes to shove.

Is Jarman worth it? Serious question. I am worried the Crows want a father/son so bad (or at least the fans do).....and he is the son of a club legend. But is he worth the hype? According to the State coach on AA he reckons he is about a 3rd rounder.

Late 2nd or 3rd the other clubs will determine what he is drafted as. They would need to overrate him for him to cost us too much and be prepared to take him for overs

The guy everyone is saying is top 2 in the Brownlow at present went at pick 44. Just sayin.

There are a lot of players who are late picks perform above their perceived potential, but percentages say the top picks produce the best players in percentage terms. It's a bit like going to the casino and putting a hundred on 23 could come up but more chance you could do your coin also.

But if you don't have those picks you can't play the percentages

Sure. And the rest of the guys who were picked 44 and above? Hell....how many number 1 draft picks have won a Brownlow? You can't throw that line as an argument. Anyone could find some obscure piece of information to justify the cause. My question is really about....are we going for Jarman because we need him or because we want a father / son. As long as it is for the right reason, I am good with it.

Listening to Ogilvie on the Road to the Draft podcast, I am very comfortable with where the BJ situtation is at.

He said they watch every game Ben plays, have spoken to mum and dad, all know where we sit but at the moment it's just important for him to worry about school and playing good footy for SA.

Hamish won't be influenced and will make the right call. It's all good

The less he is worth than the more likely he will end up at the AFC.

The AFC would IMO love to have him but as a third rounder than using invaluable early draft pick on him. Definitely can see the Hawks bidding for him which will complicate the issue, Port may be sniffing around too.

Big footy want a father son so bad. Recruiting aren't stupid.

Don't confuse the Big Footy posters with the club. I have seen nothing from the club that makes me think they are desperate for a father/son pick. I am sure cool heads will prevail. After all they resisted the clamour to draft an iconic SA football name in Ebert.

They wont pay overs!

Adelaide only need to use a pick after the bid after those clubs, so the way it will sit, is Port I dont think have a second rounder so they will need to use a first or third, if they went first they would be incompetent if they use a third we must use a late third. Depending where hawks finish will determine a bit, if we finish below Hawks, if they use a 2nd rounder we would then get with a third rounder. To early to call on other clubs also they may trade for picks.
