Father / Son Possibilities?

if he's eligible for both. he'll just chose which one between the 2 to nominate for i think.

That's a difficult choice. It really could come down to a Marc Murphy type situation where although he'd like to follow in the steps of his father at the VFL/AFL level staying home and playing in Melbourne is much too great.

It could theoretically be a worry. I'd hope not, but the lure to stay home is always there especially when you have the opportunity to choose your destiny.

Both teams will still have great young to mid career cores at the point he enters the competition as well.

Until 2015, Fremantle can select any player whose father has made 150 WAFL appearances for East Fremantle, South Fremantle, Perth or Swan Districts.

Lol just enough games.

If a player is eligible to be selected by more than one team the individual player may choose which one of these teams is able to pick him under this rule. For example Darcy Daniher's father Anthony Daniher played 118 games with Essendon and 115 with Sydney. Darcy selected Essendon.[4]

Despite the love for South Fremantle, I think that Jon's son will select Carlton as his home in the AFL. The only problem is that he is 16 now and will be eligible for the draft next year so we could end up with another Sheldon situation where he nominates for the draft and we have already commited a F/S pick on Dylan.

Can we take 2 F/S picks in a draft?

Really? I can't see the lure of playing for Carlton being greater than the desire to stay in his home state.

Yes, that's why I suggested that it could be a Marc Murphy type situation. The lure of staying at home and playing for the Blues (although his father didn't play for us) was much stronger than it was to go to Brisbane. I can only imagine that it would be that much more tempting as Jon has some ties to Fremantle. Hopefully he'll be a Blue but I wouldn't be surprised.

that could be a really good scenario.

Assuming both of them are top 15-20 picks. we only have 1 pick in the top 20 and we get both of them with our first 2 picks...... even if our second round pick is 30

Both are correct. Jon's boy is a better player than Jon was at the same age. Both are big Carlton supporter from all reports.

Question regarding father/son rule, however. As Jon played many, many years for South Fremantle does he qualify for both Carlton and Fremantle father/son rules or does Jon playing so many games for Carlton rule the Dockers ineligible?
Alvin was a tough quick player how is his son like hopefully he has the locks like his old man.

We should be offering Juddy a paternity allowance - not that he should need any coaxing

I reckon some of the WA boys should get out and check out Doro's son and give us a report :)

We all know Dylan is going to be a star, but it will be awesome to pick up 2 F/S selections who are going to be stars in the same draft.

It's a pity Johnno's boy didnt make the grade :(

Anyone know how Doro's son is developing with his footy

I dont want to put the mozza on him early but the word from the family is that he doesn't have the passion to be the same class of player as his father. Very skilful though, but just lacks the IT quality to make it to the AFL level and as a result has outside interests.

I'll eat my words if wrong.

Dean Rice has a boy playing for Endeavour Hills Junior footy club!
Saw Dean running around being the runner a couple of times.
I think he was in the under 12's last season, so he's still a few years away yet! hope he becomes a star if not lets just hope he enjoys his footy.

I heard doro on the saturday morning sports show on ABC radio in perth during the season and from memory he said his boy was actually playing colts for east freo not south freo as they live in the east freo zone and mentioned he was in and out of the team so I am not sure how promising a player he is.
