in no particular order...

Soundgarden
Bad Religion
Public Enemy
Faith No More
Sepultura

Reasons: Cornell and Patton just have killer voices, PE and BR are both very cerebral and their lyrics strike a chord with me and someone got me onto Sepultura about 10 or 11 years ago and the aggression just gets me...that's about it really.

great list there Freo Big Fella.... I have 85% of the above mentioned. Ever heard of Carlton Hendrix ? Darky may know;)

How can I list just 5???? ok here goes..............

1. Heart. Can rock up a storm , can make you cry with a ballad...........AND , has the greatest female rock singer PERIOD!!!! Have ALL of their cd's. Just a pity they have never been out here :(

2. Van Halen (pre hagar). Great rock band , great frontman , great guitarist.......what else does there have to be??? Have about 5 of their cd's , actually saw them in concert in 1982.....BLOODY ROCKED!!!!

3. Bruce Springsteen & the E Street band. Probably the best songwriter since Dylan. Any band with a sax rocks. Have ALL of their cd's plus the live in Barcelona DVD. Have seen them play 3 times live , best live show ive ever seen.

4. The Cure. A gem of a band from the UK.Very odd , but have their own style which I love. Have about 7 of their cd's.

5. Southside Johnny & the Astbury Jukes. Yes I know you've never heard of them , but they are very similar to Springsteens band. Have the added attraction of a whole horn section instead of one sax. Fairly good songwriter , although he has had Bruce write stuff for him. Have 5 of their cd's.

Apologies to the following: Concrete Blonde , Guns n Roses , Foreigner , and many others.

2. Stone Temple Pilots - Sensational sound, This band just gelled as an outfit. If Scott Weiland could have sorted himself out, this band could have been anything.

yep i must admit i've always been a STP & Weiland fan...hopefully he can get himself together enough to tour here with VR soon.

bands

too many.....
faith no more, stp, jon spencer blues explosion, rolling stones, early U2, fantomas, nirvana, pavement, nine inch nails - especially the downward spiral, mr.bungle, melvins, butthole surfers, ween, janes addiction, metallica - albums from and justice for all & earlier...etc....etc..

1. Metallica - Hetfield/Ulrich/Hammett + Burton/Newsted/Trujillo = elite.
2. Megadeth - Because 1) Each song is different and interesting in it's own way, and 2) Dave Mustaine used to be in metallica :p
3. Iced Earth - Great all round, awesome guitar, compelling lyrics and vocals, as well as drumming.

Don't know about 4th or 5th.
