Have spent the last week or so driving around the UK south west, and enjoying some of the finest small production ales, some straight from the cask.

St Austells Tinner and a Copper Ale from this place

were the highlights.

Half your luck mate - I am very jealous, I love the hand pumped beers.

7% you can't go wrong, especially when you're drinking it at 4000 metres :p

tell you what i started drinking carlton dry fusions at clubs in 2007 and this year i've noticed their out in cartons.

been buying dry fusions as my carton instead of teds and coldies, really luvin it atm

James Squire Golden Ale is probably my favourite at the moment. Kronenbourg is also fairly good. I've tried Asahi and liked that as well, they weren't kidding with the super dry label though.

I'll drink pretty much every beer though.

Yep agree its my favourite ATM as well. A mate got me on to this stuff. Got to say its quality stuff.

Also had a few Carlton ‘natural blondes’ as well lately and they go down quite well.

I've got a few guys onto it at work also. They reckon it's good stuff too.

Got a carton of Hoegaarden at the moment. Brilliant beer, tried it about two years ago and loved the stuff since. It's another one I'd recommend.

As much as I'm against both Australian macro lagers AND low carb beers, that Natural Blonde stuff isn't too bad. I would happily get pissed on it on a hot summer day. It is leagues above Pure Blonde, anyway.

Natural Blonde is much better than Pure Blonde. I don't tend to like low-carb beers but I find Cascade Green holds its own against regular beers.

Picked up some Monteiths Winter Ale last night and that's pretty nice. I've been really into homebrew this year though.

Cascade Green's probably the best low-carb beer on the market (of the ones I've tasted). Pure Blonde would be the worst easily.

Pretty much anything is better than Pure Blonde. I like your taste in beers. Both Squires and Hoagarden are very very good. Being from WA, do you like Fat Yak? It's recently become more available in VIC and I like it. It's different. Extremely hoppy.

The other day I noticed Sam Adams Black in a store. Has anybody tried this? Sam Adams Boston Lager is one of my favourites and I don't mind a dark beer so I'm interested to hear.

Fat Yak is superb. Tried it for the first time a couple of months back. Very nice beer, recommend it to anyone.

The Wahoo beer from Gage Roads isn't bad either.

had a crown reserve premium lager two weeks ago, '08 vintage...
costs $70 (it was a freebie). was sensational - but who is going to pay $70 for a 750ml of beer?? would rather two slabs of coopers pale

Fat Yak is very nice - basically a maltier version of Little Creatures Pale.

A few places around town have it on tap.

More Fat Yak converts...:thumbsu:

Some Liquorland outlets are stocking it now too. If they start to stock Dark beers other than Guinness, they might be on to something.

Bearbrass (Southbank) is another to put it on tap.

Fat Yak is on special at the moment at BWS for $55. Not sure how that price compares, but another big fan here :thumbsu:

As for those praising the Natural Blonde... at 4.2% I don't care if it tastes like liquid sex, that simply ain't enough alcohol. It's practically mid strength. Why can't they make some low carb beers that a) have some meaningful flavour and b) have some meaningful alcohol content? Cascade Green in the only one that gets within coo-ee of those criteria.

Little Creatures Pale is a damn good beer in my experience

James Squire Golden Ale is delicious also.

Tried Coopers 1862 Pilsner over the last few days, not bad, easy to drink.

Just bought a carton of James Squire with mixed six packs, Golden Ale, Pilsner, Porter and Amber Ale in the one carton for 50 bucks.

Thats good value for James Squire, 12.50 for a six pack of great beer.
