No doubt.

Sir Isaac Vivian Alexander Richards runs amock.

Remember seeing that, and many of Viv Richards batting performances. Highly recommend his 189no against England. Awesome batting. Richards also faced some of the best fast bowlers ever, without a helmet.
Only Gilchrist has hit the ball so hard so consistently since.

One i wished i witnessed-

In the 1987 World Cup, in Karachi, Richards hit the Sri Lankans for an astonishing 181 from 125 balls, with 16 fours and seven sixes. He went from his hundred to 181 from 28 balls.

I was there for McGrath's hat trick against the Windies (unlike my brother who was stuck in the queue outside!!) - and it was their number 3,4,5 batsmen too, not tailend bunnies.

Shane Warne's first ball in Ashes cricket - had been talked up big time, and finally he came on. He tossed up the first one outside leg, and I thought "yeah, great start - a wide".

The 99 World Cup against South Africa of course - what did they need, 9 off the last over? Klusener hit two fours off the first two balls, then Geraldton had a power failure. Came back a few minutes later to just catch the end of a replay of a missed runout chance. Then the next ball...

That 189 not out was hit with the West Indies at 7 for 102 shortly after he came to the crease, then 9 for 166. Michael Holding stood at the other end while Richards dominated.

The 100 of 56 balls against England in Antigua was/is a great innings also.

Smashing Botham.

The one run win by the Windies in 92 in Adelaide.

Sri Lanka winning the 96 World Cup.

India v Australia 2001 series.

Ashes match when Flintoff got out Brett Lee.

Steve Waugh hundred of the last ball of the day (I think that is what made it so special i guess).

Im a huge Mark Waugh fan so seeing many of his centuries was just awesome

- 2006/2007, when we completely annilihated our most traditional rival and took back what is rightfully ours. It isn't the England hate that made it memorable though, for me it was the sheer brilliance and ruthlessness of our team

- The 434/438 game in RSA. I'm telling you now, a game like that won't be seen again for 50 years minimum

- Our first series win in India with Gilly at the helm :)

- Anytime Warne and McGrath bowled

- Gilchrist at the WACA v England

- Not an Australian moment, but when Pakistan were about 6/40 against India in the series decider a few years back and through Akmal and Razzaq they ended up making about 260 and then rolled the Indians from there on in

- 2005

- Punters dual hundreds in his 100th Test

Warney's 700th
Gilly's 2nd fastest Ton
Adelaide Test Match of the 06/07 Ashes
Gilly's last match in Melbourne- sitting right in the middle of Bay 13 and the chants gave you goosebumps it was awesome.
M.Clarke taking 3 wickets in the last over against India
Steve Waugh's Ton at the SCG

Gilchrist's first ODI century vs South Africa, '97

Bevan's 102* vs NZ when Aus were 6/82, '02
Brendan McCullum 158 not out, IPL '08

Shane Warne in the 99 WC semi his first spell got us back into the game, as it was in England the crowd was dead silent wen Warney got a wicket and all u could hear was Warney yelling ouit come onnn come onnnnnnnnnn! And not to mention that followed many over later.

03 WC punter dominating India, 07 gilly dominating the lankans.

Warney in the Adelaide test against the hapless poms

Gilly and JL against pakistan down in hobart 99.

Steve Waugh "you just bowl" sledge (whilst batting) to curtly ambrose.

Efforts from all players from both teams i 05/06 Ashes.

The 2001 India-Australia series and the 2005 Ashes series are my favourite cricketing moments. Even though Australia lost both series, the cricket that was on display was simply brilliant. Richie Benaud has labelled the '05 Ashes contests as the best ever, and I have to agree. It was a series where one side was on top for a session, then the other side would hit back.

Steve Waughs catch behind the sight screen
McGraths diving catch at deep backward square of the bowling off Warne at Adelaide
But my number 1 would have to be S. Waughs memorable 100 at Sydney on the last ball of the 2nd day versus England. Pure emotion.

west indies win by 1 run against australia in adelaide all those years ago

dravid and laxman's 300 run stand against steve waugh's team

the tied semi final between australia and south africa in the 1999 world cup

Not in any particular order.

Steve Waugh gets a magestic ton with a beautiful drive off Dawson through the covers. I don't buy many DVD's but i bought the DVD of that innings.

Adam Gilchrist's monster hunderd at the WACA off 50-odd balls. Was at the WACA that day and it is something I will NEVER forget.

Sachin Tendulkar's second last innings at the WACA and his last 50 there. Was at this game and he was given out on a unlucky LBW, would of loved to see him crack the ton.

Australia against India at the SCG I think. Pup Clarke takes 3 wickets to win us the test in dramatic finish, Absolute gold.

And last of all Matty Hayden's 380 against the Zimbabweans. Dropped for 0 and goes onto make 380.

Aus v India ODI at the MCG in 2004. India were cruising to the target with Ganguly on a big score. Ian Harvey bowling. Ganguly plays a straight drive, bounces off the pitch heading over Harveys head and Ganguly takes off for a run. "The Freak" Harvey jumps up, grabs the ball and throws Gangulys stumps down whilst still in mid air. Place erupts. We wind up winning the match.

MWNO, got any footage of that? I remember the night, first ODI of the series, Harvey was in fine fettle, would be great to watch again.

Most memorable match I've been to.

Stood the entire match at the back of about M10 I reckon.

Actually looked at the scorecard for this in the past few days.
  • Australia bowled out for 288 off 48.3
  • India 4/257 after 45.4
  • Then Harvey removes Yuvraj (5/257) and runs out Ganguly (6/257) in consecutive balls
  • More wickets fall, India all out 270 off 49 overs (lost 6/13)
  • I remember the 62,000 crowd singing Waltzing Matilda and going nuts, the 'we love you 'cos you're a Victorian' chant got a fair workout for Freak too
Great game.

Gilchrist's ton at the WACA (Third ASHES test).
McGraths hattrick at the WACA (saw it live on a school excursion to the game)
Curtly's 7 for 1 at the WACA
Warne's hattrick v England at the MCG
South Africa v Australia 5th ODI in South Africa 2006
