GO THE MIGHTY LIONS!
In light of the recent Favourite Current Players thread..I'm keen to see the votes for Favourite Past Lions/Bears/Fitzroy Players.

These can be retired players or players who went to another club. So again, post your votes using the...

....system. And I guess we'll tally them up every once in a while as we go!! :)

I'd be interested to see who lists up there in the ex-players group - especially seeings as there will be a few generations of players brought to attention in this thread.

Guess I should prolly kick the thread off too...

5. Vossy (a given for me)
4. Andrew Bews
3. Adam Heuskes
2. Gilbert McAdams
1. Darryl White

5 - M Voss - the one fingered raised after that magic goal in 2001 is one of may favourite ever football pictures.

4 - G Wilson - got the most out of himself everytime he played. Quality on baller. A dead set star.

3 - B Quinlan - Old Superboot. Could not leave him out of any list of my favourites.

2 - M Ashcroft - always there when we needed him. Could play on the best midfielders or go down back and play on Hird. 650 odd games in a row, amazing effort:eek:

1 - S Hart - got the absolute best out of himself pretty much everytime he went out to play.

Apologies to: Michael Voss, Darryl White, Jarrod Molloy, Max Kennedy, Chris Scott, Dougie Barwick, Bernie Quinalan, Big John Ironmonger, Gary Pert, Justin Leppitsch, Garry Wilson, Darren Kappler, Piggy Flecther ...could go on, but where does it end! Oh and Jamie "Spider" Shaw.

Jamie Shaw!! I have not heard that name in ages, what a pissa :thumbsu:

What about Jamie Bond & Marty Warry

Yeah, those two were ok, I knew a bloke who was really good mates with Marty who used to rave about him. The story with Spider Shaw, i was only a young fella at the time but I vaguely remember he had this massive reputation at Preston, may have had a couple 100 goal years prior to coming to the Roys, but he had a massive cult following but was severley cut down with injuries.

My old man was a member of one of the Roys old boy coterie groups, this was when we were at Princess Park, but Spider and most of the boys used to come in before and after games and get on the piss, but Spider always used to muck around with me, awesome bloke. Covered in tats and for memory, played a whole 2 games and kicked a lazy 5 in one of them. Typical FF type who was a star at VFA level, but just couldn't get his body right for VFL. I used to float between the members and our cheer squad and for a guy who only played 2 games, this guy had the biggest following going around, especially in the outer.

Doc Wheildon was another larrikan forward type who I loved and another who loved his piss. Met him at Phillip Island on News Year Eve, when i was 18 and me and my mates ended up hanging out with him and his mates. God did i get *******, he could drink, but typical for a country boy IIRC.
