The guy is a ripping bloke and not lazy in the least. He, like many young players Adelaide has given a home to, simply wanted to go home. Give the kid a break, his dream may have just been shattered and you lot are sticking the boots in. He gave your club two years service which he was contracted to do and left on good terms as far as I know, delivering a decent pick as compensation.

So if Cooney turned around after 2 years and said that he wanted to leave the bulldogs you would all just said yeah thats fine no hard feelings

Give me a break

Lets look forward people.

I for one don't want him back.

He pissed off after his 2 years were up, and after his leg break he's even slower than he was already.

You had your chance Ferg.
Am interested where you saw him playing to make that assumption. I have seen him in the VFL and did not otice any difference with his pace. Wheere did you see him play?

Round 18 VFL 2007
Casey Scorpions 16.18 (114) def Tasmania 8.5 (53)

Casey Scorpions
Goals: F. Watts 7, B. Voss 2, B. Brooks, D. Armitage, J. Wall, B. Fraser, C. Dunne, S. Harrison, K. Matthews
Best: B. Voss, T. Makepeace, B. Brooks, K. Matthews, F. Watts, J. Gwilt
On a sunny and cool Saturday afternoon, the Casey Scorpions continued to march forward towards sowing a finals spot up with a comprehensive 61 point victory against Tasmania at Bellerive Oval.
The Scorpions, having defeated top eight side Port Melbourne last week on the road, were looking to continue their winning run in Tasmania against the Devils.
However in the first quarter, it was Tasmania who opened the scoring with the first few goals. With the home side having the jump on the Scorpions it was left to Chris Dunne and James Wall to open the goal scoring for Casey. However at quarter time it was the Devils who lead the match by 13 points.
During the second quarter, the Casey Scorpions needed to dig into the Devils’ lead to take advantage of the match. With goals to Fergus Watts and Brett Voss, Casey took the lead of the match. Further goals to Ben Fraser as well as goal conversions from free kicks to Fergus Watts allowed Casey to have a 41 point turnaround for the quarter as they kept the home side scoreless. At half time, Casey led the Devils by 28 points and at three quarter time the Scoprions held a 25 point lead at the final change, despite a short Devils fight back.
In the last quarter, goals to Tasmania from clearances gave the side hope for an upset. But the scrappy affair continued into the last quarter. After several goals to Fergus Watts (who finished with seven for the day) and Brett Voss, the result was beyond doubt with Casey completing a fine 61-point victory.

Guys, c'mon. What we should do is commit to drafting him in the PSD. Offer him a contract. Nothing flash, but it'll get him back into the AFL system. At the end of the day, the kid just wants a chance to play in the AFL and he probably now realises that he blew a good chance with us.

Then when the PSD comes along. SIC! Pick up some other guy to fill in our list. For as forgiving as Drummond is, I am brutal and vindictive. :p
Love it

Or sign him and make him wash everyones car and be used as a tackle bag.

If we did get him and he develops into a good forward he would be more than handy. Even if he wants to go home again would be valuable. ANd a bargain in PSD. But if there is a better player availiable NO.

I dislike Watts as much as the next bloke after he left, but I wouldn't look past getting him back so quickly. Not sure why, but as long as we still need key forwards I will always be interested. After some of our other list decisions though I couldn't really care what happens.

Wow that is so awesome, he kicked 7 in a match! He kicked 10 a few years back as well remember. Just because you do that once a year doesn't make you a champion. The guy is a lazy, self-obsessed hack.
He seems to have good timing with that, hey? Kick a bag just as the contract is up.

I only want players at the Adelaide Football Club that want to play for Adelaide Football Club, I'm Disappointed Hudson and co left but so what? They didn't want to represent our club and therefore wouldn't put in 100% and we need players on the park willing to give it all for the Benefit of the Club not players that try and hold the club to Ransom.

I can't believe some people on here would welcome back Fergus with open arms, He didn't want to play for us before so what's stopping him from staying for a couple of years building his rep and then holding us to ransom again and maybe entering pre-season draft again.

I want true club men. I'm a little disappointed McGregor hasn't been shipped off either, he's not that good anyway but to have him feel hesitant to commit his future to us doesn't fill me with alot of confidence

Liverpool are a bad club.

Play up Pompey!

Liverpool are the most Successful Club in English History.

We've just had a rough trott the last 20 years, all set to change now.

This is the Fernando Torres Era!

Didn't Torres get injured in one of the recent internationals?

If we didn't keep McGregor/Jericho, Watts may have been good insurance in the event that Hentschel didn't come up. With Tippett and Sellar still at the development stage of their careers, picking up Watts in the PSD wouldn't have been a bad idea.

He gets a 1 year performance based contract with the guarantee that he gets the first 6 games to prove himself (as I've said with Jericho). If he makes good on all the potential he's promised and plays unbelievably good footy then he stays. If not, then we get a chance to kick him in the nuts like he did to us.

But McGregor and Jericho staying on means we've already got two last chancers in our forward line. I'd take Watts in a gamble before both of them though...

Watts will get another club. Is it any surprise Carlton suddenly fell out of love with Jericho? Who's your daddy....

Yup, Waite to stay in the backline (because even with his brilliance they look fragile at best back there) and Watts to replace Whitnall. Seems certain.

Hahaha 20 years is a fairly long "rough trott" for a proud club ;)

Torres? Is that the guy who doesn't start in League games because he gets rested for the League Cup? Liverpool have started off another season with high hopes but once again they will only finish 3rd.

Recently with the Rotation policy Liverpool have been finishing seasons very strongly so I wouldn't be so quick to write us off

Well we're four points behind second and we have a game in hand so it's not panic time yet and last year we were well and truly in the bottom half at this time so we'll see how we go. I still think we are probably one or two World Class stars off having as strong a squad as Man Utd or Chelsea but we are heading in the right direction.
