OK, this is a MUCH MUCH better deal. We have a very talented YOUNG tall KP forward and a first draft pick. EXCELLENT. We can now re-build our forward line. McCleans selection complements this approach perfectly. WELL DONE BLUES. MASSIVE MASSIVE WIN. :)

Lachie Henderson is a blue chipper, good deal for mine (given the circumstances.) trading up in the draft was important as well, given the quality after 16 really drops off a cliff.

LACHLAN HENDERSON

Number 14
Height 196cm
Weight 92kg
DOB 14-12-1989
Debut Rd 2 2007

Introduction
Future key position prospect Lachlan Henderson commenced his AFL apprenticeship with the Lions in 2008 with eight senior matches. The agile big man has proven versatile having been trialled effectively in both defence and attack.

Background
• Henderson played all his junior football with his home-town side Birregurra in the Colac and District Football League before his family moved to Geelong for his studies and football growing commitments.

• Henderson attracted the attention of the TAC Cup side the Geelong Falcons through his performance with Geelong College in the APS competition and was later earmarked as a future AFL prospect with selection in the AIS/AFL Academy program in 2006.

• After a promising first year with the Falcons, Henderson broke his leg early in 2007 which forced him to withdraw from the U18 National Championships.

• Still considered as one of the best young big men in the country, the Lions pounced on Henderson with their first round selection (Pick No.8 overall) in the 2007 AFL National Draft.

2008
• Henderson completed a full pre-season and impressed in his first official outing for the Club with three goals against Essendon in the Lions’ first NAB Cup match at Carrara.

• Despite missing selection for the Lions’ season opener against the West Coast Eagles, he got his chance ahead of schedule when selected to face Collingwood – the team he had previously supported as a kid – in front of more than 33,000 fans at the Gabba.

• He kicked two goals against Sydney at the Gabba in Round 3 and was moved into defence the following week against Port Adelaide at Football Park.

• He went on to play five of the first seven matches in the seniors before being moved back to the Lions Reserves team where he was trialled in a variety of positions both up forward and in defence.

• He kicked a season-high nine goals for the Suncoast Lions in their Round 14 AFLQ clash with Morningside and finished second on their goal-kicking list with 29 – one behind team-mate Scott Clouston.

• He finished his debut season with eight senior matches and three goals – an impressive return for a developing key position prospect.

good outcome, well done Swann and team....would have been nice to hang on to 27, but I thnk Fev was out the door, despite our drop him to the ants seconds stance :)

I saw a bit of Henderson at U18 level.......will be a great addition if he stays fit.
