A similar thing was done with Jonathan Brown last week. I believe it is more to do with showing a different side (the contrast between a rugged footballer and a mushy dad) rather than suggesting he has turned over a new leaf.

Jonathan Brown is deserving of the attention in Brisbane. If the news was about fatherhood then congratulations to the champion!

The events since the cruise further amplify Ratten, Kernahan and Swan's stupidity in sacking Fevola. The removal of Fevola was supposed to instill the club with more discipline by ridding Carlton of the so called badboy

The incident at the Brownlow demonstrates that there is a behaviour problem at the Carlton football club and it was not confined to Fevola. The flaw was clearly one of overall discipline at the club level and not solely at the individual level

Accordingly, Ratten/Kernahan/Swan can no longer hide behind the vale of one man's personality. Aside from the basic coaching and management function, they are responsible for governance and have clearly failed

For us supporters, the tragedy of the situation is that we have lost a multiple coleman medalist and have no-one to kick goals in 2010. Fevola was part of the culture that Ratten/Kernahan/Swan effectively condoned. He was not alone in his drunken actions; they were not isolated and should not have been sacked. Ratten/Kernahan/Swan should all be sacked

The three players involved have form, it's not like the picked up a bottle as soon as Fev was shown the door

Please don't put 'us' in one basket, I'm glad to see the back of Fev and congratulate the balls shown by everyone involved in getting the trade over the line.

The punishment has been dealt, let's move on.

Go and get ****ed.

Swann didn't create any culture that condoned Fevola's actions and drinking.

If you recall the restaurant incident in 2008, Fevola was given one more chance and blew it.

Our culture must be terrible if the likes of Mclean, Warnock, Judd and O'Keefe have wanted to play for Carlton.

I wonder why this so called bad culture hasn't permeated into the lives of characters as solid as Wiggins, Bentick, Jamison, Bower, Kreuzer, Thornton, Waite, Russell, Murphy, Gibbs, etc, etc...

They haven't been in the news for all the wrong reasons.

What a cop out.

Where's the tragedy in losing a 29 year old moron for a young onballer and a power KPP who will play for ten years?

This trade was great list management by Carlton.

It was the sort of trade we missed in 2005 when we could have traded Whitnall for the Nathan Jones or Shaun Higgins pick.

I won't let that go.

Fevola would still be at Carlton if he had Kernahan's and Ratten's attitude towards his football and the club.

Funny that...

Well said.

The Fevola trade was only the first step in changing the way Carlton see's itself and how it wants to be seen, anybody who believes he was the start and the end of it is extremely naive. Ratten/Sticks and Swanny are at the fore front of that change process and should be commended, not chastised. While there are obviously left overs from the 'old days' they have the opportunity to change in line with the clubs expectations of player behaviour and partake in future success, or be moved on. I'm pretty confident that the young guys at the club now will respect the clubs 'cultural position' and in numbers alone far outway the guys who may not.

Inaccurate, shoddy and unimaginative journalism will follow players and clubs around forever and the rest of us are just being lazy and pretty stupid if we believe what is released by a media outlet is the last word on what is happening within the club or players lives.

The media will always focus on the naughty few as the majority who behave don't offer anything to profit from.

Why not sack Judd while we're at it? He was a major instigator behind the player's support of a board move on Fev.

****ing drama queen!

Biggest load of rubbish I've read here. Spud-Gate included.
How can you expect a club to change just months after the instigator was removed? The club is going through a culture change and it's unfair to judge them until they have had time to prove otherwise.

Also, why bother sticking up for Fevola? The club obviously knows more about his off field actions that you or any of us will and did what was best for the club. How many more excuses were we going to have to come up with defending his behavior? He was a club champion and thats why he was given so many chances, but the implications of his actions were too great to keep him. Surely you realize this? I, for one, couldn't handle listening to any more stories about him in the off season and am relieved we don't have to deal with that any more. We were always going to be without him one day, it's good we can start re structuring now and moving on.

You're just going to have to suck it up and get another number on your jumper. Number 33 is looking good if you want to continue defending drunken behavior.

Angel? Don't it just make yer wanna hurl?

Neither Brendan nor Alex have spoken about the birth of their third daughter. Angel, whose sisters are Mia and Leni, was born in Melbourne on December 21.

The Fevolas headed back to Brisbane last Wednesday. No Idea confirmed it had a deal with the disgraced footballer, although they would not reveal when the photos would be published.
