Re: FFGenie 2010.1

Hey grim,

Great software.

One suggestion... additional 2 columns for 2008/2009 mean avgs.

That would be sweet.

Re: FFGenie 2010.1

Just a bit of bug reporting...

Last time I used it (post round 3 data import), I had a FWD filter in place...now when I attempt to load up my file I get the following error...

"Error: Invalid file:
No enum const class ffg.AFLPosition.FWD
It is likely this is a stats file, and should be IMPORTED (under the Actions menu)
rather than OPENED."

Hopefully helpful :)

Re: FFGenie 2010.1

Okay, it's a bug. To workaround it, you have to open that file in Notepad or some text editor, go right to the bottom and where you see:

BAC - Change to Back
CTR - Change to Centre
FWD - Change to Forward
RUC - Change to Ruck

You'll have to do this every time you save with a filter that includes a position. Otherwise, don't save the file with such a filter

Hope to get a new version out soon to fix this bug.

:thumbsu:

Probably could have figured it out myself, but was just far too lazy.

Have you thought migrating the save file to XML or similar? Would be a bit easier to read etc.

Re: FFGenie 2010.1

hey grimlock,

great software, nice work

it would be great if you could have custom views for the columns.

eg - being able to rearrange, add/remove the columns

and also is it possible to save the column widths as part of the save file?

once again, love your work :thumbsu:

Re: FFGenie 2010.1

I have been able to add/remove columns. Just right click over the data and select visible columns.

Actually I kept it as comma-delimited so it would be easy to edit in Excel.

Re: FFGenie 2010.1

The updates are awesome grimlock, thanks for providing FF Genie. It is actually extremely useful, so well done (Y)

Re: FFGenie 2010.1

My fourth year of using this program, cheers again grimlock.

Just a question on the round columns, this year it seems that are a bit narrower, and the three figure scores can't be seen. Can this be changed?

Thanks.

You can change the size of the columns by dragging them with your mouse. Then just save it so the next time you open it it will stay that way.

Yeah I realise this, but it is a bit annoying to do it 22 times. I think ideally they would fit in three figures by default anyway.

Re: FFGenie 2010.1

Okay, I've never come across a Win 7 user. I do know they only had official support for Win 7 from Java 6 Update 14. Perhaps if you try to update to the latest Java version.

Re: FFGenie 2010.1

Can i just ask Grimlock how accurate have you been with BE's this year. Im using your site along with tooserious because i can punch numbers into next rounds ect.

Also what do you base your next price change on? there avg for the season?

enjoy using it.

There are plenty of explanations of how the formula works if you do a search in this forum. As for how accurate I am, you can always check by finding a player who didn't change price or only change slightly and compare their score to the BE. But you should note the BEs are all approximate anyway (not just me but for TooSerious as well and any other price prediction programs/sites)

Re: FFGenie 2010.1

Grimlock, bit of a nuff-nuff question but I downloaded FFGenie, had a play around with it and it was great. Now I am trying to reopen the program but cannot find the icon on my computer to open it. It's not in the main folder under "My Computer" either?

Re: FFGenie 2010.1

Hi Tom, there should be a FFGenie icon somewhere in your Start menu. However, sometimes it fails to place one there. You can either start again from the website, it won't download the program again if it's been cached properly
or
Go to Control Panel -> Java. Under the General Tab, click "View..." in the "Temporary Internet Files" section. A dialog should appear with a list of Java application. If FFgenie is in that list you can right click and select "Run offline"

Hope that helps.

Re: FFGenie 2010.1

Grimlock, love your site and tipped you today (not much but have a couple of beers on me).

Everyboby should throw Grimlock a few $ as he get nothing from advertising and it must be a lot of work.
Thanks mate, I can now refer to my donors in the plural sense. :D
