Re: FFGenie 2010.1

pretty much done every suggestion 20 times over and nothing, i think i will give up now. enjoy ff genie peoples for those that it works for

Re: FFGenie 2010.1

There is no "Update Files" option so I can't really help you if you're not describing the problem exactly. As RBW 007 has said, try to IMPORT the file, not OPEN the file. If you choose the OPEN option then it won't show ffz files so I'm guessing that's what you're trying to do.

Re: FFGenie 2010.1

Hey Grimlock, it's working for me. First time using it this year, so im very excited to see how much it helps! Thanks for the program!

Re: FFGenie 2010.1

Grimlock, I had the same problem as others with the data file not loading. Since you re-uploaded the file it works fine.

Thanks, much appreciated.

Re: FFGenie 2010.1

I am aware that you may all look at the time I sent this post and potentially look down upon me... Can't drag myself away from Genie to get to bed... Let me explain.

While it may surprise you... In actual fact I was awoken by TTGBITN (things that go bump in the night) and upon procuring myself a glass of water it dawned on me my computer was still on. And I had this very weird impulse to try crank Genie up 4 a few seconds just to see if it was going... VIOLA! Like magic it worked and I can't wait to give it a good hot go through the year.

See what SC does to you... When you'd usually just hit shut down instead you hear your conscious suggesting "go on... just a quick SC-ing... Just a quick look won't hurt right?"... an hour later....

While you have stolen sleep you have produced Genie... Thus I must thank you good sir (Grimlock)!! :D:thumbsu:

Re: FFGenie 2010.1

alright heres what im doing, i will give it one more try if its that good btw first time user maybe i shoulda said that earlier
Open FF Genie
File-New-aflDream team
thats all good
Import stats from file (under the big afl.com.au dreamteam writing)
go to the containing folder, where the file does not appear even though it is ffz, so when i change it to import files from all file types it appears and i click on it, then i get the error message.
other way was through 'Actions'-Import stats from file, btw file name is
DT-R1.ffz and when i click on it, when the file name appears in the 'File name' box next to the 'Open' button it appears as DT-R1.ffz.gz dunno why the gz is there coz it doesnt appear there when normally browsing through through my files. and the same thing happens for both ways of importing the file not just the second with the whole .gz thing
That is all sorry for the big message, but the whole time i have been trying to import the file

Re: FFGenie 2010.1

to get the error i do the following:
1. file new
2. select supercoach (R0 data loads fine)
3. select Import from file, and select the file --> then i get the error:
Import Error
Unknown VS game type = 2010

I think your OS is being too smart for you. (I'm guessing you have Windows and you have the option of known file extensions being turned off in your Windows Explorer?) The file is a gunzip (gz) file except I have named it as a ffz so I can distinguish my files from normal gz files. It's obviously being named DT-R1.ffz.gz in your file system, you have to rename it to DT-R1.ffz Anothe options is to use Winzip or some other zip program to extract the file that is contained in the gz file and then use import on that file.

Try and download the file again, or get someone to send it to you.

Re: FFGenie 2010.1

after some random searching through explorer i found that i had hidden file extensions on, and then i could see the .gz when browsing so i just got rid of that and now the file is recognised when importing files and it WORKS :)
Thankyou for your help and sorry for your wasted time. i hardly know a thing about computers so yeah, it works well now, but now i will fail year 12 with the many hours i will spend in front of this program

Re: FFGenie 2010.1

this may sound silly. But I've installed FF Genie and played around with it. Downloaded all the data and it all works fine. Quit the program,

but I've no idea how to load it again? Where do I find the file to load FF Genie again? Thanks in advance

There is a tutorial on the FFGenie website.

Re: FFGenie 2010.1

under what name? I've tried it on two computers. Win Vista and Win 7....can't find it
FFGenie, it shows up on my Vista machine. Otherwise, you probably have to start from the website link. Don't worry, it only downloads when there's a new file available, it should start from your local cache.

Re: FFGenie 2010.1

Hey grimlock,

I've downloaded FFGenie 2010.1 and I've download the stat files in your previous post (http://www.bigfooty.com/forum/showpost.php?p=17251160&postcount=34) but the issue I'm having is when I try and "Import stats from File", the file being "SC-R1.ffz/DT-R1.ffz" I get: "Import Error, Not in GZIP format"

When I import the zip file (presuming thats GZIP format) I get "Import Error Unknown VS game type ="

Much appreciated if you can help me out, Cheers T30S

Re: FFGenie 2010.1

Cheers Grimlock.

i cleared the cache, deleted the original download, restarted my computer.. then downloaded both the DT and SC files. got DT to work, then tried SC, and it worked too..

so finally all worked.. :D

Re: FFGenie 2010.1

I don't get what is "SC-R1.ffz/DT-R1.ffz"

It sounds like what you've downloaded isn't correct. How big is the file? It should be about 8kb.
Those file names are the bolded, I downloaded them using that link. Both files are 108kb once they've been unzipped, the zipped files as you said are around 8kb.

Are those the right files?

Re: FFGenie 2010.1

So do i click import stats from file or import stats from website or both?

Save the file(s) from Post 34 in this thread to somewhere on your computer then select IMPORT STATS FROM FILE and then find the file you have previously saved.

You can then import your own team if you find your teams USERID on the Dreamteam site.

Very impressive program!!:thumbsu::thumbsu:
