He did end up winning FOTY '09 for it but buggered if I know what it was called.
Maybe someone else can help....

PB still trying to come onto me, I see. That's disturbing on so many levels

They're all shit.

LOL - being BOG in matches and consistently amongst your team's best otherwse, is "shit"?

Dude, a man should never act desperate. It's impractical. And frankly, I find it rather ugly.

BOG? You're having a laugh. Suck it up and admit your club made a drafting error.

The Age, SEN, Triple M and the AFL website respectfully disagree with you.

As did the Brownlow judges last year, of course.

As they will again in more resounding fashion this year :D

PS- To reiterate once more, the day our club, for whom quality ball-users and players with pace are like gold, were to seriously decide to replace our most effective kick, our 2nd-best ball-winner, most prolific mark, and one of our fastest players, with a guy who is the exact opposite in such areas, would be the day we collectively walked out the back door and necked ourselves.

But you drafted a key forward

Maybe you should have picked Stephen hill if you wanted a quality ball user with pace

just posting to be part of this thread...

how many votes did jack end up with?

That's stumps
Scorecard

Nick Naitanui 37
Chris Yarran 153 Not Out
Tom Swift 16
Mitch Robinson 36
Phil Davis 18
Jack Watts 562 Not Out

Wish the poll could be readded :(

3 years on, surely of the options given would be Tom Swift?

At least Watts has had 50 games. The effectiveness of which is debatable... and suppose need to consider Tom is trying to break into a top 6 team.... Tom probably would have played > 50 games for Melbourne... no way Watts would've been picked to play ahead of Darling/ Kennedy/ Lynch (so would have debuted this year with WCE injuries)

yeah, ok, after reflection it is Jack Watts

Well, looks like Swift is the first to finish his career - albeit by choice (it seems). Good luck with medicine - 4 to 6 years of study just to be an overworked underpaid intern on about $55k/ year then hopping onto the resident merry go round trying to get a specialist training position...

In about 15 years, (all going well and getting his specialist degree) he will be on the same as an average AFL footballer ($230k)

pretty much. Both career options pretty much involve sacrificing your 20's (arguably the best years of your life). Still i guess the overall financial winner is medicine.

Didnt think interns were on as much as 55K. Or they may, but have to work 70 hours a week.
Besides he can still play in the amateurs so he will still get his footy kicks.

yeah, it was about 120 hours a fortnight,, although with all the extra interns these days number of hours is probably back to a more civilised 80 hours a fortnight with removal of overtime etc. But I believe base pay (back in 1995) was 50k/ year

Well the nominations are in, and it has come down to 5 of the biggest young potatoes in the AFL.

Make your pick.

Nick Naitanui - pick 2 in the National draft , yet cant kick, mark or bounce a football. Staggering lack of skill, is nothing but a project ruckman that should have gone late in the rookie/PSD draft or not been drafted at all.

Chris Yarran - most unskilled Aboriginal player in the comp, besides Oakley-Nichols

Tom Swift - looks like a girl, plays like a girl. There were question marks when he was drafted, and they have been vindicated.

Mitch Robinson - absolute plonker, the less said the better. Also a gutless thug who hits people behind the play.

Phil Davis - top 10 pick, but does anyone even know what he looks like or what position he plays?

EDIT - The Jack Watts option should not be there, and was added in by a manipulative moderator.

Votes for Watts will not be counted.

Jimmy Toumpas would be a near on certainty to take out the 2013 crown :thumbsu:

With the rumours that the worst youngster of 2009 is looking for a new club in 2014.

Could he finally develop as a player outside that graveyard of player development that is the Melbourne Football Club?

In light of Sheeds throwing up the idea of using all GWS' first round picks to lure NicNat what would be the worst youngster's of '09 trading price?

Swap for this guy?

A bit extravagant IMO, a swap of some picks in the 40's should be sufficient to satisfy both parties.

It will take all their draft picks, and by that I mean Melbourne would have to bribe someone that to get them to take Jack off their hands.
