The road to the 2023 premiership ahead of the finals.
The AFL has confirmed the fixture for Week One of the 2023 Toyota AFL Finals Series as follows:
Thursday, September 7
First Qualifying Final, Collingwood vs Melbourne, 7:20pm, MCG
Friday, September 8

First Elimination Final, Carlton vs Sydney Swans, 7:50pm, MCG
Saturday, September 9
Second Elimination Final, St Kilda vs GWS GIANTS, 3.20pm, MCG
Second Qualifying Final, Brisbane Lions vs Port Adelaide, 7:25pm, The Gabba

QF1 on a Thursday is an all-time terrible call. :thumbsdownv1:
Agreed. It’s like they were determined to somehow find a way to not get over 90k. Playing the St Kilda GWS game on Sunday would’ve been the better choice with Carlton on Saturday afternoon.

But they are more concerned with ratings than attendances

Or because the AFL love the Blues.

The only other MCG final on a Thursday night (Richmond v Hawthorn 2018) got 91K

Pies should easily get above 95K

St Kilda vs GWS at the MCG. Why? Would that even sell out Marvel?
would get 45k at Marvel and be a great atmosphere and it is our home ground and we earnt a home final. But nah, let's stitch the Saints and play it at a less than half full G. Dogs, Nth and Saints the only sides to NOT get home finals. Typical AFL.

So Saints should have to travel on a 6 day break because some Collingwood and Demons fans might be tired on a Friday morning?

Collingwood v Melbourne on Thursday might get 95,000. Friday night or Saturday afternoon they'd push 99,000+. Surprised the AFL didn't want to try to get 100k for a first week final.

Saints v Bulldogs Prelim final in 2010 got 62K... Talk of 70K+ is far fetched.

I suppose it's still a slight advantage to St Kilda. They played at the MCG twice v GWS once....

Dogs, Nth and Saints the only sides to NOT get home finals? Geelong have only ever had 1.

Any news on when tickets are going on sale?
I assume its the same time for all clubs but this was put up by the Saints "Tickets will go on sale Wednesday 30 August, with Saints members getting first access from 10am, before AFL members at 12pm and the general public at 3pm (all times AEST)."

A Venn diagram of the clubs you've mentioned above and of the three teams most likely to be relocated/merged/defunct, is a circle. You play the hands you're dealt.

All clubs have to play the hands they're dealt. The problem for the clubs in your idiotic Venn diagram analogy above, is that the deck's stacked.

def far fetched to expect 70k. Pies v Giants prelim in 2019 got 78k. Saints should be able to play it at a full Marvel.
