yeah but we didn't win 4 straight
Our goal is to get the best players in the draft, not the order.
Winning 4 road trips in a row to a flag is not the same as 1998. We lost our first final in 98 and the system allowed us to stay in.
Blighty played funny buggers that game as it was known even before we took the field that we could lose and still play the following week.
Well if this is the year of the Crow, we need a big win this weekend. In 1997 we won four straight finals and won the flag.
In 1998 we played five straight away games and won the flag.
In 2015 we have to combine both to win the flag.
Clarkson looked a tad rattled.
It is, especially after a shorter pre season than anyone, two years in a row.Long flight.

That was a risk tho wasn't it? Under that system the 2 lowest ranked losers were eliminated.
If 7th and 8th both got up we were toast.
Those games had all happened before our game. So no risk whatsoever.

I think you are mis-remembering. The fixture was like this:
North [1] vs Essendon [8]: Friday 4th September, 7:45pm
Melbourne [4] vs Adelaide [5]: Saturday 5th September, 2:30pm
Sydney [3] vs St Kilda [6]: Saturday 5th September, 7:45pm
Bulldogs [2] vs West Coast [7]: Sunday 6th September, 2:30pm
If St Kilda and West Coast had won - and both of those games were AFTER our game - then we would have been out.
We only knew we were safe when Sydney beat St Kilda (by 2 points) later that night.
See Bosley's quote above. I was actually at the game and we knew before it started that no matter what we were still going to play the next week.
I don't understand how that works with the McIntyre finals system? Isn't it the lowest two ranked losers that are eliminated? If St Kilda had beaten Sydney on the Saturday night, and then West Coast had beaten the Bulldogs on the Sunday, wouldn't Adelaide and Essendon have been eliminated? In other words, it was LIKELY that we would be safe, but it was not KNOWN until the result later that night?
I remember being worried we might get kicked out after that loss.I think u may be right actually. We needed either 7th or 6th to lose as well as 8th.
Seems everyone I've asked is a bit pessimistic.
So tell me, am I the only one who is pretty confident that we can easily match the Bulldogs?

I am not confident at all. Dogs match up on us well.I have only seen one person on the board who has picked Dogs.
We are favourites with the bookies.
I am actually worried that we are too confident!
