First Coach to get the arse?

I'll say Rocket Eade just ahead of Teflon Terry.

There were a few rumors going around a week or 2 ago that Campbell Rose and Eade don't have the best relationship.

If they don't make the finals, I don't think he'll be back.

Wallace if Richmond play as badly as they did last season, should rightfully get the sack.

IMO Eade to be the first to go.

As for Wallace, he has the backing of Miller and the Tigers board so he's ok (safe) to see out his contract which ends in '09. This however doesnt make him exempt from producing results.

Ok.crows seriously man relax with your hard on for the crows.
I haven't seen a post made by you that isn't 100% pro crows. Some of what you say has some merits but try and take the opposing view sometime.

On topic I wouldn't mind seeing Malthouse get the flick if he can't produce any results by the end of 2009. Shot himself in the foot with his lack of ruck prospects.

Firstly, this is BigFooty. People support their side. Unlike you, I don't put anyone down (at least not anyone who doesn't have a couple of goes at me first), and I support my team. Unlike this thread in general, I don't disparage other teams or their coaches (unless an opposition supporter disparages the Crows first). That is actually pretty good behaviour for a poster on BigFooty.

What do you expect? At least I don't knock other sides. What exactly is wrong with being positive, anyway?

I'm not a journalist, looking for fictitious "balance" in reporting or anything.

If you want to read fabricated anti-Crows ravings, go and find an article by Rucci ... don't expect to hear it from me.

Craig won't get sacked... Things have to go severely off the tracks for that to happen and I cannot see that happening, especially when it is obvious the Crows are going to be blooding some new talent in this year. Craig is a very good coach IMHO.

However my money is on Wallace with poor old Shitmond.

Mate i'm not having a go at you, personally i would give what you right more credit if you could give faults to your team. Other wise it just seems to be continuous pumping up of the crows. I'm all for supporting your side but with a little bit of leeway, and to be able to criticise their faults.

Seriously mate this wasn't a troll, sorry if it seemed like it.

Eade - if Dogs miss the 8
Laidley - If Roos finish bottom 4 with a healthy list
Lyon - If Saints finish 11th or below with a healthy list

The rest are as safe as houses.

Neil Craig, Terry Wallace or Mark Thompson?

Don't be stupid - he has got a years grace. If he goes it would be his decision.

As for other coaches, no first year coach will go.

As for seasoned coaches, it not only depends on losses. For clubs struggling financially they are often loathed to get rid of a coach that has 2+ years left on a contract, it is just too expensive for them.

Eade and Wallace are definately in the gun.

Add to that Clarkson. If Hawthorn underperform after such promising signs the pressure will well and truly be on. Likely to survive the season, but the club can afford to pay him out.

Malthouse would never be sacked, Eddie is too gutless.

Fair enough. It is a bit off-topic, but FWIW weaknesses of the Crows this season amount to:
  • The ruck has no experience (perhaps alleviated slightly by Clarke becoming ruck coach)
  • The side has lost a lot of experience in general (but still has an adequate amount probably)
  • Decision-making is still not always immediate (against the Pies, they still hesitiated a few times coming from defence, when the gameplan is obviously to play on)
  • No proven forwards (except Hentschel, who will not be available for many weeks, and Burton who is "flaky" as)
  • Pace (has improved markedly, but still might be an issue)
  • Umpires (last year were by far the least-favoured team for "frees for")
  • Bogey sides (they still haven't beaten Essendon in Melbourne)
  • Goal-kicking (last year, were the worst side at conversion, requiring the most disposals per goal)
  • Accuracy (altogether too many points)
  • Possession rate (not the highest by any means)
  • Lack of stars (not sure if this is true or not, or even if it is true that it is a negative - it is far better to get an even team performance IMO)

There, that should do. Everyone knows all this anyway ... you don't really need me to tell you. As I said ... Rucci will be more than happy to tell you all about these.

PS: Here is Rucci for you, right on queue: http://www.news.com.au/adelaidenow/sport/afl/story/0,26547,23205962-5016212,00.html
As expected, Rucci, like Buckley, tries to pretend that Adelaide is strictly a defensive team but now apparently trying to copy Geelong, and hence completely ignores Adelaide's 2005/2006 style under Craig. MacKay sets him straight on that point.

He is training with the squad, and until recently had been coming along nicely. yesterday there was an "issue" reported, but no details. I don't think it was his knee.

http://www.bigfooty.com/forum/showthread.php?p=10083180#post10083180

He won't be a starter round 1, but we might yet see him back after six or so rounds.

He will come back through the SANFL initially, possibly half a game in the reserves to start off with. I would think it may be one of the best attended reserves games ever when it happens. ;)

The club is taking it slowly with him, even though it is frusting poor Rowdy no end. We are treating him as a bonus this year.

I was watching training the other week and he was behind me working on the bike with Charlie Walsh for over an hour. There is a noticeable size difference in his legs around the knee and fair old scar, but he appeared to be in pretty good spirits and was commenting on the training that the boys were doing.

bah, Richmond have made the finals what, twice in 15 years? come 9th 5 times, and finished the rest of them in 12th or under.
Surely they should be through their rebuilding stage??
meh... I reckon Wallet is a lock if he can't make a play at the finals by round 16.

(which if past history is anything to go by, I don't like his odds...)

Plough is under the most pressure with Eades not far behind.

Add to that Clarkson. If Hawthorn underperform after such promising signs the pressure will well and truly be on. Likely to survive the season, but the club can afford to pay him out.

Finally someone thinking like me. I see him as a smoky to go if Hawks struggle to live upto last years potential. Drafting Dew was a huge risk too which was his call I believe.

I don't think Wallace has to do a lot to stay on. Around 10th and i reckon he could claim the improvement is coming. Anything in bottom 4 and he should be in real trouble. I also think Lyon will be under a lot of pressure if Saints don't make finals again.

I reckon we could actually have a season where no coach is sacked.

First in line though:
Wallace
Eade

Smokeys (would have to have a very bad season)

Lyon
Laidley
Malthouse
Craig

All the rest are safe regardless of results

I would be betting money on Craig or Eade to get the sack.

Adelaide will not sack their coach mid year. The closest they'd go is to say they wont renew a contract but even then it would only be if pushed a la Ayres.

They would prefer to stick it out with a coach than be one of these clubs who are happy to sack a coach mid year.

Then he has nothing to worry about does he, because the Hawks are going to have a very good year.
