now if Stalin were fabulously gay and still the iron fisted ruler of the Soviet Union, his perspective on christmas tree tinsel would likely be... dramatically different. Let’s imagine:

"Comrades! Look at this tinsel—shimmering, glittering, absolutely radiant! Such decadence, such sparkle! If we are to build a glorious socialist future, shouldn’t our trees also dazzle with proletarian flair? Why settle for dull austerity when our New Year’s Yolka can serve fierce revolutionary realness?"

"Let the tinsel cascade, let it shine like the hammer and sickle catching the morning sun! After all, the workers deserve fabulousness alongside their bread and tractors. But remember, comrades—this tinsel is not bourgeois; it is people's tinsel! And every strand must glimmer with the light of collective prosperity. Now, fetch me the red glitter, and someone fix that crooked star on top—it’s giving counter-revolutionary energy."

In this alternate timeline, Stalin might have turned the New Year tree into an extravagant spectacle—a shining symbol of both state propaganda and impeccable taste. The gulags might still exist, but at least they'd have fabulous holiday decorations

We haven't had turkey for a few years now, just bbq & prawns. The thing I miss the absolute most tho are the turkey and stuffing sandwiches post Xmas.
Timing - I just had a leftover turkey and stuffing sandwich actually.

Happy boxing day all

I'm so pissed I missed Christmas lunch. We usually have prawns in a few Indian dishes and ham. The last time I had homemade turkey was when I made one for my friends for Thanksgiving 2017. My brother went to a Chinese buffet with his son, who is visiting. My sister in law was sick so she couldn't make dinner. I ended up having a leftover loaded baked potato which I didn't eat on Christmas Eve. Still not feeling the best. Either a stomach bug or food poisoning, I reckon.

But did your cat get a special lunch.

Couldn't the ppl you were meant to have Xmas lunch with put some food aside in containers and get them to you, so you didn't miss out?
They were going to come over afterwards with food, but I told them not to. Food was the last thing that I wanted to think about at the time. Luckily I felt better in the evening. We'll probably go out to lunch next week. We still have Christmas presents to exchange. I hope I don't kill an orchid I got for one of them in the meantime. I've had it for a week.
