Kind of irrelevant when Essendon won 3 or 4 without a grand final being played 100 years ago + were over the cap in 93 with question marks over 2000 aswell. You could probably remove 5 or 6 flags and get the real number.

Carlton also have a history of cheating to win flags and were over the cap in 95. They are yet to win a flag without cheating something.

Collingwood have won 2 flags in 50 years and won the majority of their flags when the state comp was in it’s baby years.

It’s just another dick measuring contest for clubs that have done nothing for years.

So who is in the real contest then? And what year is the cut off point in doing 'nothing for years'?

Cut off point for me is 2000

Yeah coz we beat a side in breach of the cap in the Grand Final. :)

Do we still include flags where the Dogs got gifted a 4 goal advantage by the umpires in the Grand Final in their total?

What about breaches due to 'image rights payments' ? Do they count ??

Yes, we totally bribed those umpires to get the extra 4 goals, good comeback...

I totally remember the massive media reports about our deliberate cheating and bribing of umpires - no, wait.... that was your drug taking I am recalling.... Your systematic breach of doping regulations...

well, this thread has gone full BF quite quickly cos others weren't invited to play.

Personally think Essendon will get there first. The core of our list is in a good age demographic.
Short of not having any elite inside mids, all other lines are looking good.
A big uptake in the consistency of effort we put in is going to be required to realise that, but i think we have the right list at the right time with the comp so even.

Can see us winning a flag between 2019 and 2023.

Carlton are building nicely, but they are very young and i don't see the established forward line there yet.

The opinion of bandwagoners counts for nought.

:D Jeez I love Dogs fans.

I'd say us or Carlton. I think we will get first crack at it in the next few years. Essendon is also the only team of the lot I expect to be playing finals next year. Carlton - well we'll see. Rebuilds are always uncertain. They are always banging on about their elite talent that are going to win them tons of flags but lets see them get off the bottom 4 section of the ladder first. Won't happen next year though with no Gibbs and Docherty.

Infinitely harder to win 2 premierships, let alone 4. For Hawks to win this poll they not only need to be incredibly good in another decade of footy, they need the other teams to fail as well.

rs.

Shazza can you provide the proof that Carlton were over the cap in 95. The only club to have been found guilty of salary cap breaches in premiership year is Essendon.

Wrong. The only club to cop a salary cap-related punishment in 1995 was the Swans for mishandling paperwork around Plugger's contract.

And our big punishment in 2012 was for offences occurring between 1998-2001.

No tainted flags here!
