On a quick scan it would seem that Geelong are Sunday specialists for 2010. Near the end our draw looks good blockbuster wise but the first like 8 weeks are all played on Sunday. Lame

Pies play Geelong, St Kilda, Bulldogs and Hawthorn twice each. So much for the 'easy draw'

Can some tell me the last time a Victorian team played every non-Vic team in an away game?

Let alone a team that finished 2nd?

Even more ridiculous is some of those teams still play more games at the MCG than us.

What a joke.

couldn't agree more. the fixture is just that - a fix to suit commercial considerations. fair dinkum, teams get to make requests as to who/where they want to play etc. a complete joke yet the league doesn't take any action to address what is the biggest issue facing our game today

for what it's worth the pies have been dealt their toughest draw in recent memory based on 2009 finishes - play each of geel st k wb ess carl haw melb twice. that is 3 of the top 4 plus another 2 finallists and traditional rivals and their bogey team in the hawks. travel 4 times in 8 weeks mid season and play "home" games v the dogs and saints at docklands

How is that relevant?

The rigging of the competition is justified in the name of maximising revenue.

We are told (or were when we were on the bottom) that performance is rewarded in the draw.

Anybody with half a clue using that as the rational would have penciled in two Geelong/St Kilda matchups as one of their top priorites.

A Grand Final rematch mid-season? WTF?

Why do st kilda have to travel 6 times?? They haven't sold games that i don't know about have they? The draw is such a blight on the game-until they stop using the bigger clubs (ie Collingwood) as money raising whores for their own coffers and strugggling clubs, there will never be a fair roster. Equality my ar$e.

I like Essendon's draw. Sure, we have a lot more tough matches (based on ladder positions) than would be considered average, but having fewer interstate matches and less of those horrible Sunday twilight games than last year is nice.

Why is it we always play St Kilda round 1, and Brisbane round 22?

I don't get it.

And having the first Swans VS Western Bulldogs game be played at Manuka is a stupid decision. They should have swapped that with the round 21 fixture. The Swans VS Hall angle could have been played for a big crowd and publicity. Now it's in Manuka and no one cares.

7 home games in a row at the 'G in the final 7 rounds and you're still whingeing?

No, just pointing out that we have a comparitively tough draw this year, if the myth of Collingwood having an easy draw wasn't busted before, it is now.

I actually like this tough draw myself, we've proven we can smash the bottom teams, the next step is performing against the top teams and more games against them will facilitate that nicely.

Can't complain about ours too much.
Only real issue is that we play 3 of the top 4 twice (Geelong, W Bulldogs and Collingwood)

Have a bizarre run of 4 away games in a row, followed by 5 home games in a row.
Don't like that we get Carlton away at Etihad. Plenty will miss out again.
Very happy with Easter Monday against Geelong, especially as our home game.

Overall we can be relatively happy with that.

EDIT - Just noticed an extremely tough 6 week run of Bulldogs, Geelong, Brisbane (Tassie), St Kilda, Port Adelaide (AAMI), Sydney (SCG). We lost every one of those corresponding fixtures in 09.

We DONT CARE WHERE WE PLAY...only opposition supports use this as an argument, we would rather play more interstate matchs as Eddie has publicly indicated. It's a tough draw in anyones language: playing the top 4 twice. Although, that doesnt worry me, if we're good enough, we need to win these games anyway....It's how unfair the draw is all round. Why should Collingwood get 18 games in Melbourne and St. Kilda 16? Why should Saints have to travel to Subiaco twice? Its a ridiculous system based on maximum revenue, rather than equality...the AFL need to redefine what they believe is the balance between these two factors.

Pretty crazy looking draw.

How many dud games have been fixtured on Saturdays? Pathetic.

And R14 will be stupid on the Saturday - the mockbuster blockbuster snoreathon between Port and Freo is the only day game. Disgraceful. In the middle of winter, of all times.

Way, way, way too many Etihad games. Way too many.

Collingwood's got one hell of a start. Love the 14 games at the G, and seven on the run home. Extreme dislike at playing the Dogs as a home game at the Crypt. Again. The AFL is moronic to schedule that - AGAIN. And it's twilight. Again. And we start the season there, against them, as well. Head, hands, in.
