Told after just one year his contract won't be renewed. (Do move Mods if you want a new thread or something)

St Kilda has parted ways with assistant coach David Teague after just one season.

The Saints have confirmed Teague will not be offered a new contract. His position is unlikely to be filled, for there is likely to be a change of roles among the assistants when Luke Beveridge takes up the new role of director of coaching.

Interesting, the club must have been unhappy with him or is it an effort to cut costs?

Wow, interesting Teague has moved on only after a year at the club.

Don't know if it's already been mentioned but Darren Jolly's part time ruck coaching role has finished as he wants to move away from footy. Mentioned it on his SEN interview.

Part of rebuilding is getting optimal coaching staff. No point keeping someone on, just because they are a good bloke or because they used to be a good footy player.

I know, it's just a little unusual that's all. I don't know whether he was a good coach or not but you can only assume that the club wasn't happy with him.

I still think Jason Blake would make a good ruck coach. Anyone who is his height and did ok must know every trick in the trade.

Richo being appointed late never had a real good chance to handpick his own assis coaching staff.
He either kept what we had or added people as the season started.
I would take it with a pinch of Salt even if the whole assis coaching staff was let go.
All AFL coaches like thier own hand picked coaching staff. And there are usually 1 or 2 changes each yr.
He has been around a long time and has worked at a lot of clubs. I will back the guy in to bring in a very professional group of assistants.
Teague obviously just didnt fit for some reason. That doesnt mean it was wrong to hire him. And it doesnt mean Teague is no good.
Thats just the life of an assistant coach.
Brian Royal has been sacked from half of the AFL clubs but is still rated highly.

A bit off topic but after Jolly came out in the press and spoke out about his departing the Pigs, the press (Maher/Harford et al) can him about his candour and in the next breath complain about the 'vanilla' answers that footballers give in interviews. Hypocrites. I reckon Jolly would make a good full time coach, honesty goes a long way at a footy club.

With the club not reappointing someone to take the position and that it will be filled internally, it does beg the question, is the internal candidate for the assistant coach position, Lenny? Maybe not, but does get the imagination racing with possibilities of having Lenny on the coaching staff, guiding all of these young guys on our list.

Lenny would be goooood.

To my mind they are going to re-structure, which is what you would expect given the late start by Richo. Does not mean that Teague was let go due to poor performance he just does not fit into the new plans.

Was very pleased when Teague came on board, was supposed to be rated highly. t's always difficult to tell as an outsider with assistant coaches though. Wish him the best going forward.

Think Lenny would do well to go elsewhere if he is interested in coaching to learn a few different ways approach things. Would love him or Harvey to be a premiership coach, however fanciful it seems. They are the embodiment of what this club should strive to become.

Making room for Lenny. :)

Teague goes from the backline, Kingsley can go to the backline instead (where he always should have gone!), Lenny comes in next to Danny Sexton. :thumbsu:

I remember Pelchen saying in an interview that the reason why he was always in the coaches box this year was that they were a midfield coach short, and he was just filling it.
