I'd like to share my experience as a cautionary tale for sellers:

I got ripped off doing a paypal transaction (outside of Bigfooty and eBay), the payment made into my paypal account was 'pending' and I received a screenshot indicating payment the had been made so I posted the guernsey. Big Mistake...

Tracking was on the guernsey and as soon as it was received the payment was cancelled. I had a bit of back and forth with paypal and all they could offer was contact the buyer... Who, of course, I did not hear anything back from.

Lesson learned, I was the dope and should have waited for the cash to appear in my paypal account before posting. I'd never seen the 'pending payment' in paypal before this transaction.

I hate the 10% seller fees in eBay, but I think all my future guernsey sales will be through eBay from now on.

Sorry to hear this has happened to you mate. As you are likely well aware, pending is never received. Paypal usually make you aware of this when it is a 'Goods/Purchase transaction' and when it is safe to send, but given this was outside of a sale platform.. you may have been unaware.

Don't let the bugger get away with it, report it as a cyber crime and it can hopefully get investigated by the local police.

What's a fair price for this Guernsey, because I thought he was dreaming at $7500 last week and now it's at $10K after paying about $850 at the auction. A brownlow medal can't effect value that much surely.....

Whatever someone is willing to pay is going to be the answer.
The club sold Fyfe player worns at their freo end of clearance sale for $250 (no coa and you had to line up, first in best dressed kind of thing) and heaps went for $500-$900 throughout the season with COA's (500 for your unsigned aways and 800-900 for your signed special editions).

The bloke wont get more than $1,000-$1,100 IMO, unless someome really wants it and he flukes out with a $1200-$1300ish offer with someone fomoing hard. Brownlow maybe added 20% at most, making it $1,000ish. His taking the piss at 10k, obviously doesn't want to sell it but hoping for a corporate or something to offer him a huge price I'd guess. Fair price is probably around $900 - $1,050. Fremantle jumpers aren't that expensive (comparably). I mean someome couldn't move the Gary Ablett debut season jumper for 2k. That is worth much more than a Fyfe Indigenous Brownlow jumper, even if it is a Brownlow year (Ablett is the best of this generation and worth more than Fyfe, geelong jumpers worth more than fremantle jumpers even if it's a home vs Indigenous and I'd say debut jumpers are almost = to a brownlow year some collectors would prefer debut years) that is not the best comparison but the first that came into my head.

At the risk of having watched too much Pawn Stars, just because someone is asking x amount, doesn't mean that's it's value.
Like what AjsGuns said, find the genuine value ($900) and maybe go as far as $1 200 - offer a fair price but be prepared to walk away.

Good advice. $1,200 is ok if you really wanted it, but that's the apex of the jumpers worth IMHO and I'd say you are slightly overpaying.

I've overpaid for a jumper I really wanted before, but I knew I was overpaying and had to or I would of missed out.

I would offer $1k and see if he is interesting in bidding

Well, has he bought it to flip it or now sees potential dollars?
If it's the former - terrible business decision.
If it's the latter - he's a dickhead

I already ran the math, the $850 was including the 2x 110%.

I have no interest in buying this one by the way, my opinion as a West Coast collector is that max price would be around the $1000 mark also, but I have no intentions of buying a Nat Fyfe, it would be better in the hands of a Freo collector, I just thought $7500 was rediculous then saw it relisted at $10000, thought it might make a good discussion topic.
