Did anyone watch the live streaming of Sydney v GWS on the app?

Love the idea of watching anywhere for $50. Just want to make sure it's reasonable viewing.

Sorry West - that's not our app you're thinking of (although we'd make a pretty darn good fist at live streaming if we owned the rights :))

When listening to the radio coverage from this app on Saturday night, it was on about 30 second delay. Is this going to be the case for all games? Very annoying if so as want to listen to radio coverage when Im actually at the game

We also think you're in the wrong thread. Try this one.

Aussie Rules Live simply focuses on lightning fast scores and stats :)

@ Sportsmate

Great to have the stats for players and teams to compare now on Android!

The app is slowly coming along! Still think it shits on all other AFL Apps - so keep up the good work!

Ohh, any chance of having the comparisons date back to 10yrs rather than just being last year?

Ha, cheers!

Just so you are aware, if you access H2H team comparison via the MATCH PREVIEW screen, you will get stats that are restricted to the 22 named players on each side whereas if you access H2H from the tab within the app, you'll get a comparison for every single player on the list.

Here are a couple of examples from tonight's match.

Great little doohicky - what would also be cool, and I don't know how feasible it is, but if you could both get the average ages of both sides and the total games played for each side.

Yes, I'm greedy.

We're as responsive to our fans as you are greedy.

Give us 30 minutes :)

EDIT (29 minutes later)...

Done! You will now find these averages within the app.

Was surprised to see how much it was to remove ads - $5.49. I was expecting $0.99 or $1.99. I don't think the ads are overly intrusive so I doubt I'd pay $5.49. That would add up over a few apps - AFL, NRL, A-League etc.

With the Ladder page, could you add a Live button, so make it

Live | Brief | Extended | Next 5

Would be especially helpful towards the end of the season. This of course could be included in all of your sports apps.

OT: I don't think the Divs. button in the Union Live app fits in well with your app design. First of all, the official SANZAR term is Conference rather than Division. How about remove the Divs, button, add the Live button I suggested, and you simply tap each button (Live | Brief | Extended | Next 5) to toggle between Conferences? eg. First tap of Brief button is the Overall Standings, tap once for AUS Conf, tap a second time for NZL Conf, and a third time for RSA Conf. Also, there shouldn't be a solid line between 2nd and 3rd in the Conference tables. 2nd in each conference is not guaranteed a finals spot. The top 6 are the 3 Conference leaders then the 3 next best teams across all conferences. At the moment, Australia does not have a team in one of the Wildcard positions. I'd also suggest changing the numbers in each conference table to be their respective overall position rather than simply 1 to 5.

And on the android version? :)

Done as well!

Bloody marvelous stuff, I'll have to ship some complimentary booze in the SportsMate direction at some point. :thumbsu:

While we admittedly love a Friday drink, we'll settle for another disciple spreading the Sportsmate gospel! Feel free to tell your friends, mum, neighbours, footy coach and those people you once knew in high school and occasionally chat to online to get behind us on Facebook and Twitter (also AussieRulesLive).

1) Each company has their best model for ad unlocking and this happens to be ours. While we understand many are happy to go without, there are already a number who have taken up the option. Although as you rightly point out, the ads themselves are hardly intrusive and don't detract from the overall experience.

2) We can confirm that live ladder is something we are looking at implementing later in the season.

3) Solid suggestions all-round. We'll have a play in the next couple of days once the storm of AFL Round 1 is behind us.

I think your model for unlocking ads is fine. $5.49 per season (and per Sportsmate app) is expensive and I expect you will receive some feedback about this. I hope for your sake people do not give you 1-star reviews and negative comments because of it. Maybe you can put more ads in your app then the $5.49 might seem like good value :p. But I don't think it's too late to change the price to say $2.99 at most.

And you're entitled to that opinion, yet we hope the majority of users understand the function and performance of the app will not change in the slightest. This is merely an optional extra should they wish to unlock the ads.

Some of the feedback we get in our support inbox is extraordinary :)

Great work to see Sportsmate taking on the feedback of BF users so candidly. It's the best place to go for public opinion!

I for one love the app on the iPad and am envious of it on mates' iphones and androids. I have a Windows Phone 7 - I know it's still in its infancy, only about 18 months old, but is there any chance there's something in the works for this platform? It would be quite easy to dominate the market with the sheer lack of quality sports apps available. People would definitely be willing to pay as well. Also, the metro design is arguably the most beautiful of the major platforms. Something to think about. :)

There's no doubt the un-jailbroken iOS interface, in 2012, leaves a lot to be desired. Unfortunately WM is coming from a long way behind in terms of market share, especially given they had the market in the mid-noughties.

Only complaint is the changes made to the score worm page.

The 'live action' descriptions don't update as quickly as the score - so for example you'll see that your team has just kicked a goal, then look below to see who's kicked it and the last update was 2 or 3 minutes ago. The worm updates but the info below doesn't.

Great app though :thumbsu:

@Sportsmate re Footy Live on iPhone

About the Team Stats for each game, Goals is a useless stat so could you get rid of that please? I don't know if you are restricted in which stats you can report, but more relevant would be Inside 50s, Contested Possessions or Disposals.

And I'm curious about the sizing of each stat? What determines the length of each? Why is 26 Frees For North Melbourne rather long, but their 53 Tackles is rather short? Why is the bar for Essendon's 17 Free Kicks less than half that of North Melbourne's 26? Shouldn't there be some correlation between the two?

How about making the 'winner' of each category 100%, that is, all the way to the left or right, and the other team, a percentage of the other? So North's 26 Free Kicks is 100%, or a solid blue bar all the way to the left, and Essendon's 17 Free Kicks is 65% (17/26) grey to the right.

When the final teams are named, the AFL site only lists the final benches, but your app updates with the complete final teams.

That's only for Sunday, and unless I'm much mistaken the app just spreads the extended bench across the template. It changes later on.

Couple of new things on the app that I noticed on the weekend and didn't like. Firstly the aforementioned live "commentary" - much preferred just having what there was last year, who kicked what and what their individual tally was. It'd be great if there was an option to switch between the two (in preferences, so one could permanently be set).

Secondly I do miss the highlighted players that you could scan through at the end of each quarter - the leaders in goals, possessions, tackles or whatever system was set up. I'd like to see that back, since it was usually a fairly good barometer for who was among the best on ground (not always, but often enough).

Agreed. I'd love to see this back in the app (and possibly across all apps too, Super Rugby, A-League and NRL)
