Scott Pendlebury
I was caught up in the hype and wanted a CHB like Spangher but this kid sounds pretty good. ;)

IMO cypher, Carlton need to pick footballers, not athletes or "project" players. I'm still hoping Matty Spangher is still availanle at #20, should we not get Josh Kennedy.

HugeBluesFan, I do have flashbacks of Adam Chatfield when I read 188 cms, quick and agile, but he is a bottom-aged player who has only been playing football for a short period.

Peter Francis said he's plays on the wing with his raking left foot, is very quick, has wonderfull ball skills and great evasive skills with no one able to tackle him.It doesn't sound like he's just an athlete like Prendergast and Setanta's improvement in only 2 years of footy won't be a patch on Pendlebury's.

Anway, I'll probably have another selection wish for 20 next week. :)

And thanks Footyman.

Good read as always mate.

Interesting on the handspan for Pendlebury. Along with his bball background, definitely explains the unique ball handling skills he often displays. Really uses this to his advantage in gathering the ball and evading opponents - Able to easily grab one hand off ground and carry ball high up.

Is still raw footy wise and will probably take a while to get to AFL level but potential is huge.

Good spot on the good vision trait - have heard few people say he lacks vision and spends too much time trying to do too much with the ball. Don't agree with that assessment.

Most players can not evade opponents as well as Scott nor are they as agile, so where others have to quickly dispose(under pressure) to avoid being tackled Scott can do a dance and dispose of the ball in the clear. This did not always pay off this year with teammates not always knowing his next move but with more experience and in a highly structured environment he could prove very valuable.

Real highlights were when he did a basketball like intercept of a handball/kick, got up and running quick and moved the ball forward - the lightning turnover really puts the opposition on the backfoot. He did this a few times this year.

Much appreciated Footyman - however when is Josh Kennedy's profile going up, i'm suprised it's not there yet considering he is a top 5 pick?

He sounds good with alot of upside.

Will be interesting to see where he goes.

I think I can remember him from the carnival. I vaguely remember him having a slightly awkward kicking style, is this right? (I probly have the wrong player in mind).

Hey Cypher, I just think we have too many project/long term players on the list already. What we need is players that are footballers that can play next year. That why we should look at players like Murphy (agiven), Hurn, Kennedy, Spangher, Lucy, etc.

That was my angle for not taking Ellis at four in an even draft, but what if Pendlebury is the better footballer?

I watched the U18s Grand Final live and sat up when a player snapped a terrific goal under pressure on his left foot after grabbing the ball cleanly. :thumbsu:

Pendlebury and Spangher may both be gone by pick 20 and we'll still get a good player like Dempsey, Muston or Higgins.

umm sorry footyman not to sound rude but you say your next draft update will be on the 9th of november and thats yesterday. I understand your studying exams but that next draft update has to be changed then.
