Was he a Swan?
Rodney's not forgotten by anyone who ever saw him play. Had none of the attributes that you would expect of a footballer at the elite level, but got the job done every week. Had no blinding pace, average skills, not an imposing presence and was as ugly as a robber's dog, but there he was every week getting it done. Still kept playing til he was at least 40 at Lameroo and tasted premiership success. Now showing others what it takes to plough soil when it hasn't rained for 30 years.Bowen Lockwood
Brett Chalmers
Michael Wilson
Tony Brown
Rodney Maynard
you could go forever with this list haha
A couple that I vaguely remember but don't have a lot of details about:
Marcus Baldwin - key forward, kicked 3 goals on debut for Geelong - possibly all in the last quarter if memory serves correctly. Remember watching and thinking he could be a gun, but only played a few more games.
Julian Kirzner - 1 game for Essendon, popped up a few years later at North for a couple of games. Think he had a reputation as a bit of a goalkicker in the seconds.
Also, more recently Cameron Stokes from Hawthorn.
Sanford Wheeler
haha I remember hearing he would ride his skateboard to training
this isnt about whether or not they can play cause he could, its about players that are not really talked about these days and he isnt. If your not a elite player or in the media you can get forgotten easily for the non-diehards.Rodney's not forgotten by anyone who ever saw him play. Brock O'Brien.
Marty Mcgrath - I remember his debut so well. 4 goals. In the media all week afterwards. Delisted end of season. Never heard from again.
