Just to be clear. There is no 'IQ4'.

There was the original IQ3, then this was phased out by a 'newer' IQ3.

The IQ4 is simply the newer IQ3 just rebadged... If you have the newer IQ3 you would of simply received a software update essentially turning the box into an IQ4 and 4k capable. (newer IQ3s were installed from about March this year onwards)


Just want to make that clear as I know people who payed the $125 fee to upgrade to an 'iq4' when their current box is already the 'iq4' (newer IQ3) and the Foxtel reps just have NFI what they're talking about.

No worries, Foxtel are horrendous with their communication. I wasn't sure what box I had as I had it installed late March so when I enquired they kept telling me I had to pay $125 to upgrade as i had an IQ3, when all I was asking is 'what box do I have, will it be 4k capable'. After repeating the question 4 times they finally looked into it then said "oh, yes you're current box is 4k capable".

So got a letter in the mail yesterday saying our Fox subscription is increasing by $3 a month from October.

I've got some news for them too. In a few weeks our subscription will be going down to $0 a month.

I saw on whirlpool the software update differes from old iq3 to newer iq3 but cant find it.

Easiest way to find out is to log into your Foxtel account onlline. Go to My Account > My Package. Under the details it will either say IQ3 or IQ4.

Mine is displaying IQ4K and I got my box in April.

Apart from sport that is. The sporting channels are top class, a various assortment. Fox movies and fox in general is ******* hideous. It gets worse as each year passes by.

If you are a fan of half hour shows, then be prepared to pay for IQ service, because watching the channels from about 608 History and crime and nat geo and discovery and monster TV and motor car stuff and gold hunting and fishing and well everything in that area, and Pete Griffin or any thing like Seinfeld or American Dad , or well, just about every half hour show that exists on Fox, YOU GOTTA RECORD IT, because the adds make it unwatchable. UNWATCHABLE true!

Here is an honest truth , last night my wife and I were looking for something and I'd channel surfed to the History and onwards in channel numbers , we got on one I thought ok, something about animals, so we'll have a look , but there was an ad on, so I flicked upward in numbers , I surfed the channels for 7 stations forward.
EVERYONE HAD ADS ON, AND LOTS OF THEM WERE FOR OTHER CHANNELS PROMOTING THEIR SHOWS AS WELL AS NORMAL COMMERCIALS AND THEY REPEAT THESE ADS INCESSANTLY, IT IS HORRIBLE.

FOXTEL YOU ARE A CRUEL OPERATOR AND AS A CUSTOMER I AM SERVED TERRIBLY.

Not one of the next 6 channels I turned to, including the one I flicked off to wait for the ad to finish (7) altogether, ALL ADS!

I have tried to get Foxtel to do the right thing by long term customers, and believe me I'VE PAID THEM A GREAT DEAL OF MONEY OVER ABOUT 17 YEARS.
And I've fought tooth and nail over the phone with sales people men and women!

You cannot get them to let you invent your own package, they have some excuse , that they can't , its a LIE!

Then when we ring them , it is out of country call centre. If on a week day you finally get a sales person then they will try to re sell you the same unfair package.

I watch a lot of TV, but sports wise I watch Australian Rules Football lots of it!

And boxing, a tiny bit of cricket and Rugby, rarely soccer, so I have to have all these channels that I never use.

The movie channels are full of cartoons, repeats, like I said its like a disease.

I pay now after arguing and fighting over packages $127 dollars a month, for about a regular 15 channels, maybe, that I watch, I record like a madman .

I am seriously unhappy with the movie channel, Man On Fire is back on again and again and again and again!!! With Mrs Doubtfire.

The problem is pay TV is PAY TV yes???????????????????????????????????????....NO! , its not pay TV because if it was you would be ad free.

Which a minor part of the packages gives you, and that's the repeated shit movie channel you can get. No ads , barely a selection worth watching!

Now on demand??? For some reason I cannot use it , maybe its my techno incapacity to join all the millions of wires I've got with NBN and not connecting properly to the internet , or what ever.

Then I checked out the movies for rent , the price has gone up, they should, be free! My IQ is a 1 or 2 what ever that means , but I pay a lot of money, to watch a handful of channels, and free to air channels too , Fox matches them for ads .

So Fox is a cheating pack of shit bags , that should have regulators pull them into line!

Horrible service, FOX lift your game!

I was pissed off yesterday after looking forward to lazing on the couch watching tv. Nothing to keep me entertained. Why should I have to D.L movies everyday when I'm paying for this bullshit that is fox. 99 percent shit as you mentioned. Fox used to be a cool way to chill on the couch and absorb yourself in some good viewing but now it does the opposite.

If there's one that shits me more than anything else with Foxtel, it's the way they put an ad on after shows (especially premo Showcase ones) but before the credits. It's like the dumb ****s either don't know or simply don't care that often times the shows are designed to let what just happened sink in as the song that played over the final moments of the episode continues over the credits. Ruined the end of Sharp Objects for me a bit as the story actually continued in the credits but I didn't know because I'd stopped and deleted it when the ad came on.
