Is the footy even on Foxtel this year?

I'm looking through the TV guide this week, and their showing 2 hours of footy this week (NAB GF Replay). YES 2 HOURS!!!!

For a network thats prided themselves on gaining half the games of the season, they haven't bloody shown anything yet. Since the NAB Semi Final weekend, they've only shown a 2 hour replay package of both Semis and a 12:00 replay last Sunday morning of the NAB Gf. That is all.

Meanwhile I've been subjected to garbage sports like cricket, rugby and Tiddlywinks.

Will the situation improve, my fellow Fox subscribers?

ever thought that there are no games on this week
Ever thought that for the so called 'Home of AFL' they could show frequent replays and reviews of each NAB Cup Game, classic games from last year and other AFL related programs.

Not just 2 hours of AFL from Sunday Mar 18- Sunday Mar 25.

I'm with you there mate. There definately should be more replays of old matches even just replays of the NAB cup matches this year.

I hope there will be more coverage of AFL games during the week.

We have to remember that Fox Sports may have 4 live games this season, however, it is through Fox Sports 1,2 and 3, unlike last years Fox Footy Channel. On top of that, the 2007 Cricket World Cup stalls other events during the following weeks, with 2 channels a night gaining full coverage.

It would be great if Fox Footy Channel never siezed, however, it is what we have to live with now.

Fair enough Lonie.

But seriously, who gives a fat rats clacker about World Cup Cricket?

I wonder how many replays Fox Sports 1 will show during the weekend, and week.

Ie- Will it be a dedicated channel during the weekend, like Fox Footy.

Pretty sure it was mentioned there will be 2 replays of each game during the week.

Apart from Fox Footy, I've always had the feeling that Foxtel in general has a grudge against Football. It's Sydney based, for a start. It seems to be the only major media outlet in the country that calls puff-ball 'football', and I read an article by the editor of Foxtel's website during the Commonwealth Games, heavily criticizing the use of Footy players in the opening ceremony and doing everything short of calling it a sh*t sport. Obviously a jealous thugby fan. I emailed him about it but, surprise surprise, got no response.
And yeah, comparing the coverage puff ball gets on Fox Sports to Football is no comparison. Even over summer, they started showing some old Footy replays, but they seemed to dry up into nothing, in favour of wall to wall puffy-ball. Sad.

NRL supporters may think the same about the AFL...

Things have changed now without a dedicated footy channel, it is now competing for airtime with every other sport that FOX Sports covers

I am sure come the start of the season, we will see more AFL, at the moment their is simply nothing to show. I went to the game on Saturday night and bloody grateful that FOX Sports is not continously showing a replay of the game...

Bring on the real stuff!:thumbsu:

Not happy with foxtel then email them at ... feedback@foxtel.com.au

I had a problem with regards to digital installation a few years ago because they kept telling me on the phone that they would be installing it which they never did, canceled appointments etc. so someone suggested emailing them & the guy who wrote back from the foxtel feedback fixed everything up within a few days.

You forgot Rugby League and Golf.

Cricket is a great game!

Even though I have Optus which is only Foxtel under a different name the whole thrust is Sydneycentric
They even give "Sydney" time for some of their programs wot never heard of EDST or EST? During the Cricket World cup they are flogging the two thugbys to death and nothing about the AFL Foxtel/Optus sucks big time

I hope they allow more than 2 hours for the replays of each match. I like to watch replays of matches in its entirety and 2 hours is not enough, as I found out a couple of week ago when they showed the 2006 GF. They had to cut out about 3 minutes of actions in the third quarter to fit it in 2 hours. And again for the NAB cup GF, they edited out some of the celebrations after goals.
Foxtel needs to allocate 2.5 hours for each replay like in previous years because 2 hours is not enough for FULL replays.

whinge, whinge, ****ing whinge,

just a couple small events on at the mo, world cups & the like:rolleyes:

Fair enough Lonie.

I'm sure a lot more people would like to watch the World Cup cricket than a heap of replays of a NAB Cup match - or old matches.

You can be sure that as we go through the AFL season there will be classic matches every now and then (it was only last week I watched the 2004 grand final on Fox Sports - I think they showed a couple of other grand finals as well) and there will be enough replays so that you can see the games you've missed.

Shows like On the Couch and Fox League teams will probably be back next week.

Foxtel's coverage has been poor, same with Seven's. Strange that they both paid so much for the rights yet the coverage has been so cheap and shabby.

Only one replay of the NAB grand final and no shows previewing the season and 1st round is a disgrace, especially as NRL games have been on an endless replay all week. The rugby coverage looks a lot more slick. Obviously they want to increase subscriptions in Victoria and other AFL states, but they think just getting the games will do it and they don't need to put any effort into quality coverage at all. And on top of that every show on Fox sports is rugby centric/ anti AFL, they're all full of New South Welshman who can barely hide their resentment towards our great game. I suggest people complain to them about it, it's not good enough

I find it weird that Foxtel is being criticised for not showing footy when there is none being played. I also find it even weirder that some think that the World Cup Cricket should be cast aside in favor of some footy replays. You guys crack me up really...true...you're funny.

Small things amuse small minds

The point is that on the Fox Footy Channel every game was replayed about 5 times during the week.

You can bet NRL games will be replayed 2-3 times each, AFL should be the same.

Sorry but I pay $60 per month to watch AFL. Whether it be live football, NAB Cup Replays or matches from 2006.

I don't pay $60 to see a game of cricket from some island 5000 miles away which features dud teams.

Instead of being single minded drones of the AFL it might actually do you some good to broden your horizons and watch a few different things.

the simple fact is Foxtel put on what gets them subscriptions, replays don't get them bugger all.

The League had the same level of coverage as the AFL 2 weeks out, all the programming started a week out.

stop being tossers, if your not happy cancel your subscription but we all know none of you will do that will you. ;)

I'm tempted to start a 'Channel 10's coverage sucks' thread just to even things out. 7's coverage has improved so the theatre-goers turn on FOXTEL.

What did people expect when Fox Sports got the coverage - wall to wall AFL like Fox Footy! Even Fox Footy only showed pre-season games once or twice then continued with old games until the week before the season - Fox Sports are probably going to do the same.

Their coverage has been acceptable for the pre-season. The coverage will probably be like the NRL's coverage - replays over the weekend followed by all day Monday/Tuesday. The only reason the NRL coverage has stepped up is because their season has started.

Bring on the footy season, that's all I can say, because some of the most pettiest topics have come on here recently - this thread, and the plethora of petty threads about the AFL website which should be on computer geek forums, not footy forums. Some people seriously need a life.

The point I'm making is that Fox and the AFL were so quick to tell the world how good they were in getting the rights again for 5 years.

But their showing a whole 2 HOURS OF FOOTY between Mar 18-Mar 25 - 1 week before the season starts.

PATHETIC Foxtel.

Could not agree more! For crying out loud guys, there's no footy on at the moment. When it starts, Foxtel will cover it!!

For now, the Cricket World Cup is running LIVE.... and that is where the interest is and where the advertising dollar is. Why on earth would Foxtel want to run AFL replays just so a handful of fanatics can get their fix?

Just chill out people and wait another week.

Actually last year all AFL games were replayed twice a week with a couple games getting a 3rd replay on a friday. There was never 5 replays during the week. You would get your friday night and saturday night replay of games played on the other network(s) but I dont expect that to change this year either.

This year we're due to get two replays of all 8 games each week! Wont hear any complaints out of me! Hell, I would live with one replay if I had to.

Fact is, and people dont seem to be understanding this, Fox Footy ran at a fair loss. Getting any footy is good enough for me!!!! ....especially considering how in the air it had been for months prior to the deal being signed.

Lets not whine at what we dont have, let's just appreciate what we've got. So we dont have a dedicated channel anymore!? So what. We're still getting 4 live games and 2 replays of each game during the week. If we still get On The Couch and League Teams then thats fantastic too! The only thing the jury is out on is whether we get a nightly news show. If we get that then Im preety sure we should all be counting our blessings as, when you add it all up, we've really lost little considering it appeared we'd lost the lot.
