Freo supporters hate us for the times we beat them with late/after the siren goals, Acres, Cerra, Motlop etc etc etc. It seems as though they are well on their way to hating every club in the competition. 😂

I really rate Schultz highly as well. Works so hard up and back, footy IQ, wins most of his one on ones. Scores goals. Is physical.

Adams is no loss in that they have Mitchell/Degoey and the fact that Adams has to rest at half forward when not playing inside mid. That resting position hurts pies as Adams is terrible on the HFF.

Irritating they could get this deal done.

Literally the perfect player for the Pies and a huge upgrade on the headless Mcreery and Adams resting fwd.
If Pies get a pick within 30 for Adams it is a highway robbery. Well past his best and injury prone - not sure why Swans are interested considering they have Warner, Rowbottom, Parker and Sheldrick who are all better as inside mids and three of them have potential to be A grade players (Parker already is one)

I think Cripps could trim down again in the off season and be a more mobile inside mid like Tom Mitchell. The problem is we play with too many alike inside mids. We need another mid to come in but more outside with express pace but mature with strength and composure. Hewett and Kennedy is the spot Id be upgrading.

On the other hand, Hewett could have improvement or atleast returning to his 2022 form. With a full preseason. But Zac Williams is an obvious candidate to displace him. If we go again with him in the middle.
No.

Let's not do the Cripps trim down/bulk up discourse again

Bombers, Swans, Dogs, Pies all moving to fix balance. Interesting.

The right move for Carlton is obvious but impossible to ever consider. Carlton would improve immeasurably by replacing Cripps with a balanced 'elite kick' midfielder. But that is an impossible situation to even consider given how much he has given us. I prefer loyalty too so am not an advocate of trading Cripps but just highlighting that for improvement that is the key harsh play.

Secondary to that is Young/Pitto for a piece we need. Again, all harsh given these are people.
Why wouldn't you keep our captain and all that he offers, and upgrade the Hewett and/or Kennedy. Seems even more obvious...

I can't believe I'm typing this, but ...

With Schultz coming in and Ginnivan on the outer - would we be interested in Ginnivan?
I much prefer Schultz, but that ship seems to have sailed

I hate Ginnivan with a passion. I'd rather cheer for him if he was our annoying little shit I guess.

Because you have to give quality to get quality. But I don't want to go further with the premise as it will only upset other posters.

Caveat - IMO.

Our current holes that Austin needs to get creative with are:
  • Balanced 'quality' mid with elite kicking with some running speed
  • Ruck in that neither of our rucks are good enough to solo ruck so it makes us top heavy and forces us to play two weaker squad players in the 22
  • Second tall defender that is lockdown type (not top price but a 'Petty' price). Gives insurance to Weiters too.
  • Ready to go forward small (balanced who is creative + run down). Durdin/Owies/Cunners are rundown. Motlop is creative who 'chooses' when to rundown.
The above is simply a list of holes to fill that Carlton might not be able to fix. But it is the target for improving our side and what I personally want Austin to focus on.

What we have seen this off season by list managers is an improved propensity to 'give' to 'get'. It will be very hard to get the above but austin's job is to get creative. Schulz would have been perfect for us but did we completely miss on this opportunity or did we approach and get rebuffed. If austin had no idea then that would hurt. Regardless if Pies get him this off-season. It's about whether you are ni the know.

Given our list situation, maturity and salary cap, I think Austin has to give up a piece somewhere to get...or we don't get and just keep trying to win a flag with what we have in terms of major pieces. Of course, there is moneyball, and i'm hoping we get Elijah for a moneyball result and that he fills a need.

The bobby Hill thing i think is the difference between a good footy programme and a bad one.

Tom Hawkins for a year as the Luke hodge type?

For us, no

For Melbourne?

Very interesting that the paperwork for McKay and Gresham hasn't been lodged as yet

Because Essendon are playing funny buggers with the offers so 1st round compo isn't guaranteed. Although, in this case I agree with them. Neither is worth that amount.

I'd rather have Owies for the annoying little s**t role.

I don't mind Owies either. He just needs to improve one thing...his short field passes inside 50. He always leaves them short which can only be panic. Fix that aspect them I'm fine as he converts well and chases hard.

Owies reminds me of the plethora of times SPS scrubbed the kick over 30 metres.

Agree, Ginnivan isn’t much good and Collingwood know it.

Was largely unsighted in the GF and struggled to get a regular game.

Collingwood have in recent years sold off a few that they knew don’t have hurt factor to benefit their progression up the the ladder, oppositions clubs need to stop aiding them by taking their over paid poor performers off their hands and allowing them to add better options as replacements!!

Paired with Shield allegedly not being traded...

Has Dodo been too clever again?

U got good oil mate? I mean source 😉

Apparently the offer for McKay is 150K short of band 1 compo

Gresham shenanigans are slightly different

Bloody hilarious
