Re: WTF! Freo Game! Umpires played on!

How sincere was Thomas when he said there was a lot of yelling and he didn't hear the siren?

Coming from a saints supporter, I would say in all fairness, Freo won the match and should be awarded the points.

Just to note though... it was funny as watching Chris Connolly waving his arms left right & everywehre else like a clown... pretty much neutralised the pain of losing.:D :D :D

Dockers logged an appeal.

The result won't be changed, it might be wrong but this result might affect other teams that are going to be contending top 4 spots later in the season. What if West Coast or Adelaide finish 2 points behind the saints at the end of 22 rounds but have better percentage,Saints at telstra are near on unbeatable. Saints at Footy park or Subi are nowhere near as good.

Baker's Free Kick

Okay I know that Fremantle were robbed because the siren clearly sounded, but I am interested to know what happened with regards to Baker's free kick. As I saw it, he received the ball, kicked it through for a point, was bumped 'illegally' after his kick and was then awarded a free kick. My understanding is that if you shoot for goal and get a score, and are then illegally infringed after the disposal, you get a free kick but you also get to keep the initial score. If this was the case, Baker's second point should have put St. Kilda on 95 and given them an undeserved victory.

That was a joke, the siren had obviously already gone and i must say, i didnt like most of the st kilda supporters on here before now, but now i like them even less.

I was at the game today, I didn't hear the siren once all day, it was way too quiet, usually it is pretty loud at Aurora Stadium too.
The umpires did the right thing though, they wouldn't have heard it

See the umpire bounce the ball despite the swarm of freo players saying the siren had sounded?

In a situation like that, wouldn't part of you think 'hey, maybe I could blow time on and check' ?

Lol see now this would have been the logical thing to do.

Pity it didn't happen that way.

but rules are rules. End of story.
I doubt very much that will be the end of the story, sorry pal.
Kudos to the Dockers (with whatever they decide to do). It's an effing disgrace and could have big ramifications for them.

This'll continue to stoke the North-South fire for years to come this incident!!
I'm just wondering why the timekeepers didn't continuously blow the siren until the umpires heard it - and furthermore, if the siren had malfunctioned, where was the backup siren - the gas hooter.

I was always under the impression that a back up gas-hooter was a requirement in the event of a siren failure.

Apparantly they've asked St Kilda to concede the points. :D

As much as GT is the tool of the millennium, they'd be nuts to do that.

It aint cricket, I'd be amazed if St Kilda agree to that.

What a joke. Fremantle should've won that.

Couldn't believe the madness that took place on the field, the umpires should've stopped and listened to what the players were saying before they bounced the ball. Schammer was going nuts.

Just wondering if the Saints had led all game would the reaction by most on here be the same?
There is now indignation instead of laughter.
This has nothing to do with the teams involved, its a simple matter of common sense. StKilda is my local team, I actually want them to win the flag if Richmond can't, I hate Freo with a passion, but I still think they should get the 4 points.

You need to see that everyone who isn't a StKilda supporter thinks this way, its nothing against StKilda as a team, its just the way it should be, its called sportsmanship. Freo won the game, it took a monumental stuff up by officials to give StKilda the chance to draw it, in fact they gave StKilda the chance to win it, luckily it didn't get to that, but it still needs to be fixed.

Re: Baker's Free Kick

i think the umpire was trying to give saints the match, because the umpire mic picked up the ump saying it was for illegal disposal by a fremantle player, even though they did not touch it. i think he was determined for st. kilda to win, and did hear the siren.

Re: Baker's Free Kick

Firstly, the siren had not clearly sounded.

Secondly, the free kick wasnt even there, it was just a bump.

Thirdly, Baker is a hack for failing to win the game twice.

And lastly, sucked in Freo. :D
