And i doubt if the AFL can or will do anything. The rule is when the umpire signals 'time'.. it doesnt allow for any deaf/dumb umps.

Look Freo were clearly robbed, no question, but ....

... they were 20+ points in front with 7 or 8 minutes to go and got into that position, they should never have let the Saints get that close (the Saints were shocking today)...

Is there anything in the AFL rules that allows the result to be corrected?

Unfortunately the game is not deemed to have been completed until the umpires hear the siren and acknowledge it by raising the arms. The question that needs to be answered, is why did the umpires finally call time after the free kick was awarded to Baker? There was no siren then, so what led the umpires to finally acknowledge the game was over? Theoretically the game could have gone on for another 5 minutes, 10 minutes, who knows until they found a bell or could make the siren heard.

The last behind has to be voided. If the AFL doesn't award the game to Fremantle, then the system is screwed.

Absolute call. Even IF the siren handt gone, it should have gone the second they bounced the ball. That is one of the worst things i've seen in footy. Did any of the umpires call time because dennis seemed to think Hayden Kennedy did.

I'm just glad i'm not a Freo fan because that was an absolute disgrace and a huge embarrasment for the AFL.

Conolly seemed to think the result would be reversed so as they won, I highly doubt that will happen.

And why did the umpire give the reason for the Baker free kick for not having the ball returned to him properly!? How can that be a free kick, if it didn't have one to start with!? That would mean he got the free kick, then didn't get the ball delivered to him properly, meaning it should have been 50 metres. All three umpires should be dropped.

I almost wish this happened to Collingwood just to hear Eddie's spray.

They have to. There cant be any sort of loophole with the AFL. Its not Rugby where you can play after the siren till the first stoppage. Unless a player has marked just before the siren. Game is then over.

This is why the AFL will never become an international sport. When we have morons in yellow thinking they are bigger than the game well it won't go far.

The umpires are the biggest blight on the game atm. They are there to officate so the contest is far THEY ARE NOT THERE TO BE BIGGER THAN THE GAME.

Fortunatly for Freeo and the AFL Baker didn't kick the goal. Entertaining stuff though.

Just goes to show chipping the ball round and trying to run down the clock doesn't always work. If they attacked and scored Freeo would have had the win.

But is there anyway of over ruling this though? Everyone who watched it on TV knew that it was over.
