How sincere was Thomas when he said there was a lot of yelling and he didn't hear the siren?

We didn't hear it at home that much is clear so either the Freo players have a ringing in their ears or the Saints players heard it too. Will anyone come clean? I mean AFL players here sirens in their private lives all the time, why not today?

This is worse than the night final years ago when Kerry Goode marked a few seconds after the siren to win the game for the Roos against Collingwood.

Surely the AFL have to admit that they made a mistake now ...

the rule is the game/quarter isnt over until the umpires hear the siren so you cannot really fault the umpires.

happened in a local game last year the siren blew and the team took it down to score a goal while players were shaking hands

They were probably the only ones, they were looking at the clock.

If they never heard the siren then why is the match not still being playeD? Another siren was never blown, so did they just deicde after the behind kicked after that second ball up that it was okay to stop the match now? It was a while after the siren, what triggered it?

The umpires are the biggest blight on the game atm. They are there to officate so the contest is far THEY ARE NOT THERE TO BE BIGGER THAN THE GAME.

If they pay the draw, then there are going to be a lot of ed off punters who put down a lot of money on Freo to win, and then if the result is reversed they'd have to pay the win.

Well the timer on the TV was already gone. Then that must mean that the siren "went" off. And no one heard it really.

Unfortunately the game is not deemed to have been completed until the umpires hear the siren and acknowledge it by raising the arms. The question that needs to be answered, is why did the umpires finally call time after the free kick was awarded to Baker? There was no siren then, so what led the umpires to finally acknowledge the game was over? Theoretically the game could have gone on for another 5 minutes, 10 minutes, who knows until they found a bell or could make the siren heard.

First nail in the coffin for Aurora Stadium and AFL football in Tasmania. If you have 7 umpires on the field, plus an emergency umpire sitting on the bench unable to hear the siren, then the Stadium is not up to AFL standard and should be factored out of the AFL draw for the future.

It is obviously up to the AFL to ensure that all aspects of the venue are up to AFL standard.
The AFL must have therefore been satisfied with the adequacy of the siren at Aurora.

The AFL have a duty of care to get this right or there will be a revolt of some kind. The AFL will have to act on this tonite and award the game and the 4 points to Fremantle . I can see this heading for the courts. 2nd time in three weeks a team has been ripped off , 1st Melbourne V Adelaide & now Freo What a joke.
