That's fair enough, but it's tough on a 17 year old to write them off as being lazy in the Colts... eventually the penny may drop as to the workrate that is required to succeed at the top level.

He was overated. The whole story of him coming from nowhere and being a star was just that. A story. His test results where very ordinary and his play just as bad this year. Never wanted him in the first place and certainly dont want him now. Yes it is tough to make a call on a seventeen year old like that but it happens all the time. Not every kid gets drafted and its the same call.

yes but would it be fair to say that given the opportunity you would have taken collard for Kepler in a straight swap?

Thats all we were getting at, seems rather strange that we couldn't strike a deal when it would seem that both teams would have been more than happy with the deal

Do you know why they were not put on the table? In this years draft you could have EASILY got a 2nd/3rd rounder at worst for them or a player such as Bradley. Seems stupid to not put them on the table.

what kind of player is collard by the way. i do remember him being rated last year. if he is a midfielder, then we should look at him. if he is a goal sneak then we have enough.

Hey Ant, you seem to have a pretty good idea what is going on down in bendigo.. what exactly is the state of play with jetta? cause I have heard both sides, that he is an arrogant trouble maker, not really that interested etc, but then others who say he is as professional as you would expect a young bloke and pretty solid. I guess what I am asking, is in your honest and measured opinion, does he have an attitude problem and will he play AFL this year?

thanks mate

It was very clear that he wasnt happy playing for Bendigo seconds. Not that that is a bad thing. He is a player who belives in his ability so i doubt he will ever be 100% happy playing for either Bendigo side. He belives that he is better than VFL. I dont think it will stop him from playing AFL. It is a slight arrogence or ego thing but from what i have seen around the club he is a good young kid who is willing to work hard at training to play AFL.
I think the frustration of having continual groin problems didnt help his attitude when he was playing for Bendigo either. He couldnt do what he normally can do on the field so he was a bit down on that.
I think he is every chance to play AFL this year. I think that the whole attitude thing has been blown way out of proportion due to a few rumours and misconceptions.

yeah ok.. that makes sense.. to be honest in some ways sounds a bit like how nathan buckley got his bad rep at collingwood etc.. its a tough one though.. some ppl like the young kids to hate the 2nds and others think they should go back and have a good attitude and just be happy to be playing.. 50/50 for me.. is there any truth that it was race based (heard that from a mate who follows bendigo closely)? cause that would be worrying considering our rep with the ind players...

Cant say i heard anything about it being based on race. Bendigo had a few Aboriginal boys in Atkinson and Maher playing so you would hope that it wasnt that reason. I just think a few thought Jetta was a show pony with a big repuatation that didnt perform or live up to it.
The fact that Knights has taken the broom to Bendigo as well and a new conditioning coach has been appointed for them gives you some idea that Bendigo where more like a country leauge club trying to play in the second strongest comp in Vic. I think a few boys might be in for a bit of a shock in 2008. No more lazy days.

What i sth ehype about Dunn? What kind of player is he? Dont want Collard. Why dont we want Haddrill for free?

Collard must be a loose cannon.

Though i've only seen 1 senior game that he played this year, I saw quite a bit of him prior to him being drafted and he was something pretty special. Incredible balance. Moves alot like McLeod.

For him to be drafted in the top half of last years draft with the wraps on him that there was and be let go after a year says that he's a bit of a loose cannon.

Would be a waste if he doesn't get picked up by someone but if he's not interested then we don't want him.

How big is Collard?

Obviously we have got too many small FP/HFF type players, just wondering if he could be a running HBF...

Would probably want to come to Essendon because Leroy is here.

Just a little fella, I think he's around 170cm but don't quote me.

If sheedy was here, he would pick him up for certain.

No doubt has the talent to be a gun senior player but to be delisted with the game that he's got says to me that he's got some bigger problems that need to be addressed long before he gets over to the Bombers.

Yeah I just looked it up he is 182.

And yes, there would have to be some huge problems with his attitude to be a teams first pick in a draft and get delisted the next year..

Hadrill! A fit Hadrill would complete our backline!

And ours too! :D

Robbie is very talented, but unfortunately injuries have severely hurt his career over the past 3-4 years. IF you could get him fit he would be a very good player in any team, but I doubt his body could cope with the rigours of AFL for too long.

I would suggest that we will see a fair bit of improvement from him in '08 and with experience, by about 2010 we'll see a top 50 player in the league injury allowing.

All reports have been that he's working his arse off atm and I think that his attitude problem may be a bit overstated.
