Fremantles lack of scoring power

Oh because you didn't score more than the opposistion?
Sorry for my post. I had to edit that 2915 to 2015......

Basically yes. Just like freos 2013 grand final loss. Scored less goals than the Hawks. Freo scored 8.14.62 to Hawks 11.11.77.

No different to your team in the 1990 grand final loss to Collingwood. Lost 13.11.89 to 5.11.41

basically yes. Just like freos 2013 grand final loss.

2013 - Fremantle 1st points against, 12th in points for.
2015 - Fremantle 2nd points against, 11th points for.
2022 so far - Fremantle 1st points against, will be either 11th or 12th in points for at the end of this round

See a pattern yet?

Freo don't score, and having the worst offense in finals has resulted in not winning premierships.

I'm watching the port vs Essendon game. Bombers Finally got a goal.

Port are still leading 7.2.44 to essendons 1.8.14 Midway in the 2nd quarter

It's amazing how obsessed you are with Essendon. Every second post you make in this thread you bring them up.
This thread is about Fremantle. I don't care what Essendon do or do not do. Go make a thread about Essendon if you're so interested in them.
Because you bagged out my club.

May I remind you how Essendon faired against Freo at Marvel early in the season?

Did Freo scored 100 points vs your mob? I think they did

What are you, 12? I never said I have anything against Freo. I simply pointed out a fact, proven by the statistics, that Fremantle are one of the lowest scoring sides in the comp, and have been over a long period of time.
Well there was this stupid thread 5 years ago where premiership teams had to average 100 points in attack per average game.

Yet in the last few years, starting with the Bulldogs 2016 side, all of those premiership sides won the flag not scoring 100 points a game in the regular season.

Classic example was the 2018 grand final.

Collingwood averaged 93 points a game in attack and conceded 77 points a game.

West coast averaged 91 points a game and conceded 75 points a game.

Don't care if Freo are 11th or 12th in attack. Don't care if they are 8th in attack. If your good enough to make finals, the stats are irrelevant

A few things -
  • In general Freo's accuracy has been towards the bottom of the league, so obviously that doesn't help.
  • This year, the two wet games Freo played, obviously sucked big time in terms of scoring. Take out those, and Freo is averaging around 90 points per game.
  • Marvel and the Gabba are also really high-scoring grounds, so that probably adds a goal or two to those venues, so, Brisbane, Carlton, Saints and the bulldogs obviously get a leg up there.
  • In terms of personnel Freo are lacking an athletic forward around 192-194cm. Griffin Logue is actually the perfect build for that type of forward if he can learn how to play forward. Otherwise Nat Fyfe is also the perfect size, but prefers midfield / forward and hasn't been the greatest kick for goals - even though his technique is pretty good normally in field kicking, he had the yips last year definitely, other years he has been more accurate.
  • Freo does play safe from deep 50 to avoid turnovers, not helter skelter football, so perhaps that has meant scoring against the lesser teams hasn't been as much as could have been

So, I don't think its as bad as people make out, while there are areas to improve on. This year the ball movement (in general) has been much quicker from half-back, just need to connect better with the forwards, and be prepared to go to one-on-ones - the fact that Freo scored 14 goals against Melbourne shows that they can score, and score quickly - 8 goal quarters are nothing to sneeze at.

different coach, different game plan, almost entirely different playing list, different stadium, different opposition, different decade.
it's a fair point by the numbers, but you may as well compare any random teams from the past to make the point. the only pattern is the purple and white chevrons.

However, Fremantle have form for completely drying up on scoring in games as the season goes on.

This is the real problem. Freo throwing up very low scores a few times a season. Sometimes they can score but their floor is extremely low and their ceiling is only just above average. This is their 4th game under 60 points this season of 14.

Scores under 60Scores Under 70Scores over 100Scores over 110
Melbourne2443
Geelong0132
Brisbane1175
Fremantle4530
Carlton0362
Western Bulldogs0363

Worst in every one of those against the current top 8.

And yet they somehow beat the demons at the MCG and cats in Geelong.

Yeah Freo scored 10.9.69 vs the cats. Could of easily of been 13.6.84 or even 14.5.89 on the day

It’s been hard for them to get a consistent mix up forward this year with Taberner (their best forward) in and out of the team.

Lobb probably had his best half a season ever but he’s not a guy you want to build a forward line around (for a few reasons, the kindest probably being his own injury history).

That said, if they get both of them on the field and firing at the same time, they’ll stretch most defences, including Melbourne and Brisbane, which means #flagmantle is still a decent chance this year.
