My favourite player to watch at the moment. He is an absolute jet. Taller, slightly more versatile Brad Johnson IMO. The scary thing is that he is only going to get alot better. He'll have a few Brownlows by the time he is done.

Yep. instead of making Fyfe and Freo the focus it's all about how West Coast had him in their sights and some trick of fate snatched him away.
Suck my nads Sunday Times, he's at Freo!
Slightly off topic but along these lines, did anyone see the article on the opposite page to this one with the pre-derby Depth chart? The blurb for Zac Clarke said something like "exciting young prospect who the Dockers are trying to turn into Nic Naitanui". Could they be clinging to the Eagles nuts any harder?

To be honest thats exactly what they appear to be trying to do hence why Griffen was dropped and Zac wasnt for the Brisbane game. A mobile second ruckman that tackles like a banshee, gets clearances and kicks goals but inst just a pinch hitter in the ruck ala Keps. Nic Nat isnt there yet either but he is ahead of Zac in his development. I cant think of anyone else in the league who you would compare Zac to in this role. Adam Goodes maybe but he is more midfielder then ruck.

Lets hope he doesn't get the Michael Barlow curse. Got injured just as people were talking up his chances of a Brownlow win.

Hopefully Fyfe stays injury-free between now and finals (although you guys won't make it - go Norf :D)

Oh I agree that's the sort of role they're developing him into but the wording was "trying to turn into Nic Naitanui". It wasn't even "trying to mould into a role similar to Nic", it was "turn into Nic". That was the bit that irked me!

Shit post, piss off.

Barlow never got noticed anyway. He should have been leading the Brownlow count after round 11 but was unsighted. Umps didn't know who he was.

Judd led the count after round 11, despite missing the first 3 games.

The umps wont notice Fyfe either.

I don't believe that. I think the umpires will notice him just as long as Pavlich didn't have a great game also. Fyfe should be top 10 this year for sure.

I agree, whether he deserves a high placing and an AA guernsey won't matter in the end, he won't get either.

Not to sound like an "insecure West Aussie", as a Victorian may label me, but I think a combination of being a Freo player and a second year player will hurt him in both awards.

yeah. Not only does he rack up the possies but also I personally notice most of his possessions cause he's usually either taking a strong mark, kicking a great goal, setting up a goal or doing something flashy when he gets the ball.

How will either of them hurt him? I guess by being a freo player you mean that we haven't won enough games and you think that being a second year player they won't know who he is. The first one might effect his brownlow chances but should still be AA if he keeps it up. Being a second year player won't change anything. Might even work to his advantage.

I think it'll come down the great question: Does an All-Australian player take his team to the top four or does a top four finish make some All-Australians?

I think there's a bit of hype around players at the top of the ladder where as players from the bottom teams that might be better don't get a look in, Lecras for example.

I just think we've been jipped in the past with regards to AA selection and ultimately if it comes down to say a Murphy/O'Keefe type for the last possie it probably won't be the Freo player who gets the nod.

And yeah wins will probably come into it too, but really ever since last years farce I've lost a lot of faith in the Chaz too. Probably being a bit cynical but does it really matter how highly he's rated by umps or some drongo selectors? We all know how good he is and so too does the opposition, it won't change a thing.

It doesn't change a thing, but these personal achievements are milestones made on the way to the grave, as Dylan Thomas would say.

i've been trying to workout who is consistently the best overhead mark i have ever seen.ken hunter, the birdman, peter knights, can't really comment on knights as tele coverage was sunday nites on the winners.fyfe IMO is the best i've ever seen, all at the age of 19.if any other hell marks, interested for comparing.

Fyfe's slick handballing when he wins possession in packs is superb. Only trouble is the rest of the team are too slow to capitalise on his work.
