I previously saw a cost estimate of building an on-ramp at 16million for a new section of highway. That same on-ramp if built on existing section of highway with traffic when they can only come out at night and need to pack away all their machinery in the morning, cost more than 4 times as much!
100%.

The federal and state governments are upgrading a traffic bridge over the train line near my place in Sydney from five lines to seven lanes. They can only perform substantial construction a few weekends a year because of traffic and the train line below needing to be closed.

Five years, $220m. For less than 50m of road, or 100m of new lanes.

Absolutely it's needed, it's been needed for decades, but that's the advantage of it falling into an overlap of the NSW premier's electorate and a competitive federal electorate last election cycle.

Well schinner is definitely an ally these days and so is Quirk. I also think liveris the Olympics guy is an ally. I was confident on Victoria park still getting up, till i saw the new sports and Olympics minister is a former nrl referee, ffs.

Looking at his Instagram no mention of the lions winning the flag, plenty of rugby league on there though and even the Brisbane heat. Unfortunately Coates is already doing his bullying and no doubt v'landy's will be on the phone to Manner.

Let's think of it this way, a new stadium must be built regardless, the gabba rebuild is worse for the lions because it kicks them outta Brisbane for 4 years. Therefore, blokes with rugby league interest will think this is the best proposal, we can't avoid giving them a new stadium, so we may as well do some damage booting them outta Brisbane for 4 years to compensate.

Overall it's up to Cristifulli if he is smart enough to realise that the gabba is what cost Anastasia her job in the end. Victoria park is so obviously the only legitimately good solution that addresses all issues. Let's hope Quirk and Schinner are on the review panel in some way and it doesn't become a Manner and Coates shitshow.

*Anybody emailing Manner I'd go with the advantages for the Olympics and cricket first and foremost and mentioning the lions last. He won't wanna feel like he's helping the AFL and will need justification as to the Victoria park proposal for when Peter and Coates get on the phone to him.
In am pretty sure that Rugby League is not a part of the Olympics so can’t see how anyone with Links to league would have their thoughts taken seriously on Olympic matters.

Well apparently west tigers man John Coates was the one that convinced Miles on the stupid qsac idea and basically bullied quirk in an attempt to not recommend the Victoria park idea, whilst finding funding for the rugby league stadium Suncorp as an alternative. This in addition to influence from nrl commissioners Peter Beattie and Kate Jones towards miles.

They know a new stadium is a huge leg up to the AFL growth in Brisbane, so will find a way to make it more difficult. Either the lions will have to relocate for 4 years, or, they'll hit the afl up for millions to contribute to the new stadium, despite no other sport in the country ever chipping in for new stadia. Drain the afl coffers a bit.

How do think League is going to feel about potentially losing $1.5b in funding to renovate Suncorp Stadium for the opening and closing ceremonies?

They’re going to look for their slice of pie any which way.

Tim Mander is minister for sport and racing and the Olympic and Paralympic Games.

Kind of funny/weird how ministers sometimes get appointed on quite tenuous connections to their portfolio. "Mander was a RL referee so let's make him minister for sport". Anyway, I guess I'm happy he's not been made education minister with his links to the Scripture Union

That's really helpful to visualise the suggestions. How flat is it in the top right corner? i.e. acquire that "CRR Unity Alliance office", and build there - it seems very closely linked to both the busway and Exhibition Station compared to others, is still adjacent to the proposed warmup tracks, and could be argued that it's minimal loss of green space because it's not currently green space.
It is really the ultimate location. But there's a stone wall and stairs running alongside Gilchrist Avenue that have a heritage listing because they're from 1936. Personally I don't see the value in that (it's less than a hundred years old and this land has been inhabited for tens of thousands of years) but getting around heritage protection can be difficult. So I doubt it'd happen.

Also, that position is only about 200 meters from the biggest hospital in Australia.
I've seen several people online make this point, but I've never seen anyone from the hospital itself declare that it's a problem. It's worth noting Adelaide Oval is about 300m away from a hospital (and across a bridge from another), but this is just accepted as normal. So who knows.

.Below image of the driving range section
The lady is on a driving range platform that is quite high
It is a reasonable drop down to the lowest point and then rises to a much higher level than the driving platform
Thanks for the visuals. Is the driving range the one that was just south of the golf shop and east of the QUT busway station?
