Might have to go and shorten the shorts on my template this weekend.Just for the record, these yellow images template shorts will be accepted this time around because too many people use them, but these aren't footy shorts, they have something like a 4 inch inseam, which is twice as long as what could reasonably be called footy shorts.
If you are using a Yellow Images Template, the Men's Fitness Shorts mockup is a much better solution for footy shorts because the proportions are correct.
I'd strongly encourage everyone to think about their entry as a whole and not just as individual segments. The ratio of guernsey to shorts to socks matters greatly in the overall look of your entry and having shorts that look like training shorts throws off the balance of your entire kit, especially in an era where we're all using realistic templates that are expected to be in proportion and will look even more off when they aren't.

On an old-school paint template, longer shorts are less of an issue because people are just putting together an approximation of what a kit would look like. On a Yellow Images template, you've got some genuine realism which makes things that are out of proportion really stand out. Those rugby shorts from the front on view appear to have something like a 4-5 inch inseam.
Not to kick off an argument, but what is good for one must be good for all under what you are saying.
If one set of shorts is apparently too long then all shots no matter what look/format should all apply to those rules otherwise those on specific templates are being given an bias against the rest.
For fairness if you believe that one set of shorts are too long (even if being more realistic) then all shorts no matter what format/presentation should be altered to look similar in length if they are not deemed to be the right length for a real pair of footy shorts.
I can't immediately think of a template for footy shorts i've seen where the shorts are longer than in the YI rugby shorts that has become fairly widely used.
I just went to look at my template after posted your original comment and felt as though they might have been a bit long in terms of how far they come down the leg, rather than inseam. If you're using your footy template's shorts they're fine.
Shorts length is all about the inseam. You should be looking at a 1-2 inch seam on the inside leg for footy shorts to look like footy shorts.
Is that for the over 35s?An oldie, but was widely used.
