Rumour Gaff meeting with Bombers...

The issue here is called "parent expectations!". Andrew is an excellent kid BUT his parents believe being a high draft pick, he should be playing every AFL game. They need to pis. off and leave the boy alone.

I know the man, and he would be very disappointed with how his career has unfolded so far (opportunity wise). He sets very high standards for himself and has a lot of close friends and family in Melbourne.

You really should be carded for that... its such an obvious troll.

How could you be unhappy about playing 5-6 AFL games as a sub, dominating the WAFL and likely getting full games towards the end of this year?

The fact is he is not AFL ready. He is so tiny. Needs one or two pre-seasons before he will be AFL size. If he doesn't want to do the hard yards then we can trade him to a Vic club in some sort of three way deal where we kid some quality WA talent back to the club.

Top 5 pick is worth a top 5 pick. End of story.

You cant know him that well. He was playing in the side until he went back to the WAFL to get match practice and he did his hammy. He hasnt been left behind at all.

And to think a kid that grew up in Melbourne has friends and family there?!!!!

I know him well enough, I haven't been following his every move however.

I know he wasn't happy being continuously used as a sub.

Some kids won't have a close knit group of friends, he does.

If he isn't happy it simply serves as more motivation to move back.

well cant think of a player happy being only a sub. but seriously, 13 games into his first season and is disgruntled?

besides, if i was you, id worry more about where tom is heading in 3 months time as opposed to gaff in a year and half :)

Why?

Could it not just serve as motivation to work harder so that he does break into the team? I dont think Gaff would think moving to another team instantly means more game time... unless he wants to go to Port, Brisbane, Adelaide, GC or WS?

He will get games soon enough, Masten and Ebert are shaky Darling (or possibly Shuey) may need a rest or we could give him a run in the backline for Smith. We have some tough games coming up... that will expose some players.

Personally I don't want any WA player from the Bombers.. I think we've already got better at the club.

I agree that he's body size needs to develop more before we see the best of him but when you look back at the likes of Stephen Hill's frame I think Gaffy deserves he's chance.. he's done everything asked of him and can bring some real quality in to the team as he's shown in the brief glimpses we've had

Stranger things have happened, no need for a pot shot mate I'm only offering an opinion on the bloke from someone who has played some sport with him.

I said IF he was unhappy, it would serve as more motivation.

Personally I think he has a good enough work ethic and values which should mean he will do exactly what you said.

Work harder, get stronger.

In order to win a place in the WCE team. But then again in a high stress environment who knows?

these sorts of things only happen to mortons. we had it, now you are going through it. but if his parents are the sort that push him to the point it makes him cause a stir just to satisfy his parents, he probably is better staying in perth. besides these things have a tendancy to repeat themselves at new club.

May well be.

Paddy Ryder would be the only one. Still quite young and the ability to play as a tall forward, tall defender and ruckman equally as well. Not elite in any one of those positions but would be best 22 in any of those positions. Would do a straight swap for Gaff in a heartbeat but I don't think Gaff will leave so my point is pointless ;).

None of the top 10 picks , besides Heppell are starring and setting the AFL on fire . Gaff needs to take his time , build up and aim for later season games .

Stevens and Hams are probably in line for a game in front of Gaff at this stage unfortunately , which is good for the team .

The whole west coast side met with the adelaide side yesterday.

I have it on good authority that all 23 players (including Swift) who were in Adelaide yesterday are gone.

Jumping at shadows much ffs

that said there's plenty of threads / posts on this board about luring the likes of rich, bennell, matera etc back to WA so in light of that noone should be getting all offended on the remote possibility that gaff may return home

Looks like the Judd fiasco is still cutting deep and we are all sh*t scared of top players wanting to leave.

Fact is, we have a good record keeping non-West Australians.

Good point. The game has so many champions playing in states they didn't grow up in. One club players too. Judd is just Twigleys Biatch.

It's early days, and after all what BT said is just a whisper at this stage.

We play our cards right, we can get him to re-sign and remain in the blue and gold.

Oh ffs we are screwed

I bet its the AFL trying to stop us becoming a powerhouse again, everything they do is to stop us

Yep so if he does want out we should listen to offers this year, rather than wait till he is out of contract.

Really besides the point. By the time he is out of contact it's more likely to be a non-Vic side finishing bottom so we will still get a good trade for him.

He can't walk without running the risk of being picked by another interstate side.
