GAJ: Does He Make The Difference For Geelong?

Who the hell cares about GAJ. Pretty sure you need a forward line and a backline neither of which he can hold up.

Their backline is now retired and their forward line is Hawkins or a bunch of players who are rumoured to be traded out.

Biggest clanger of the last 3 weeks is the Scott boys not realising when to jump

As great a player he has been, what club would go near the aging champ who is anti-team culture. Risks outweigh rewards.
While not cancerous, his solitary and self engrossment would be detrimental to teams building relationships within clubs.

If cats could get GAJ for the right price it's a no brainer but overpay and it will cost them

Greatest player of all time who is still a top 5 mid when fit.

If he plays every game, Geelong are significantly improved.
Last week after playing a broken Sydney you were a shoe in for the flag.

Geelong aren't winning a flag any time soon; it's the exact direction they shouldn't be heading in. All he will do is hamstring them for a few more years, it's clear they need to bring in good, young players and re-vitalise their list.

I hope that they do bring him in.

cant say he wont help - still an elite talent - sit him in the fwd pocket and he will be super dangerous....will play for cheap so yeah, worth it in my view....

throw him and stringer in that fwd line (out menzel and motlop?) and definitely a big improvement

I think he can. He's still one of the best in the game. Put him on that team and they go to the next level. This allows Danger to play FF more.
Would think it allows danger to stay middle more. Ablett permanent forward - if he would actually agree to that - to actually make their forward line something to worry about.
Needs to be able to put on defensive pressure though if hes going to do that and i dont know if thats doable at his age with hammy and shoulder issues.

Need to look deeper. He may kick 40+ but does the opposition get more rebound through him?

After a few games Dangerfield will be in awe of Ablett when he returns next year.
Age is irrelevant when you can still play to your capabilities which Ablett was clearly doing before injured.
Ablett will finish in the Top 5 Brownlow votes next year at Geelong if he plays minimum 16 games

He is 1 good tackle away from his arm falling off

Shoulders recos almost always end up with the shoulder becoming stronger.

Just look at Robbie Tarrant.

GAJ might be playing it up, but I doubt there's any real issues with it.

I think it comes down to what they give up for him. He is still contracted so GC can ask for their future first rounder and pick 20 this year which I think they have. This will severely stuff up the team in years to come.
