If he fails today I think it will be the end of him at the Eagles and we will sort someone else for that CHB role.

I can see the logic in what you're saying but today probably isn't going to be a very typical game with the ball coming into our defensive 50 towards leading targets and so on.

I can't see Mitch failing today and I would imagine basically every goal we concede will come from GWS breaking the zone and some young pup running too fast and being too smooth at ground level.

Anyway, I rambled a lot but I basically agree with you. I'm just cautioning that if Mitch gets burned some youngster at ground level, it's not the end of the world. If he gets outmarked a few times however....

yeah I know it's only GWS but Mitch Brown wont get many opportunity's this year, really is make or break in every game he plays this year.
If Glass, McKenzie and Schofield all stay on the park for the remainder of the year, This will be his one and only chance even thought its GWS and wont mean much.

NO LATE CHANGES

FINAL INTERCHANGES
Greater Western Sydney: Toby Greene, Adam Treloar, Israel Folau
Substitute: Curtly Hampton
West Coast Eagles: Chris Masten, Josh Hill, Adam Selwood
Substitute: Patrick McGinnity

Waters :thumbsu:

Why is McGinnity hated so much? Granted he is not near the top 10-15 players in the side he is a superior player to Adam Selwood, Smith, Dalziell, Stevens and maybe even Waters as well. If he's not the sub he doesn't play! Why is he ALWAYS the sub?

I love McGinnity.

I assume it's because he has been very effective as the sub in the past. He's great at coming on and lifting our tempo immediately.

I don't think he is hated on here. He has earned a lot of respect last year and is on the improve. Unless I'm missing something:thumbsu:

Not even close at the moment mate, wont be taking these guys spots. I think hes a good player though and will be in our best 22 eventually.

Not on here....by the coaches because he either doesn't play or if he does he's the sub every bloody time.

Everyone is entitled to an opinion.

However, people will tend to question the value of someones opinion when they rate McGinnity higher than Waters. Selwood has done more than McGinnity ever will and, based on potential, Smith and Stevens currently have much higher ceilings.

McGinnity is a reasonably poorly skilled battler who gives his all and has a bit of pace. He lacks the poise and decision making at present to play deep in defense and lacks the skills to play through the middle or forward.

He would get 22 games a year in a poor side but in a side contending for flags he is depth and the quintessential "battler".....

Way over rated on here by those who see a bloke running around at a million miles an hour as evidence of work rate and effort ... And as a reason to overlook poor decisions and poor skill execution...

He is as tough as Waters, his kicking = to Waters, not as good a mark however. Way over rated here? Surely you jest:rolleyes:

Out of interest 87 explain why you think Stevens and Smith have more potential? I thought they were pretty similar ages. Play different roles. Paddy is a prett good stopper I reckon. He is no Scooter but he don't exactly grow on trees now does he! :)

He turned the game is WC's favour when he came on vs Collingwood in the qualifying final last year. Took a good mark and laid a brilliant tackle. Also who would you rather take somebody like Milne Adam Selwood or McGinnity? I would much rather McGinnity A Selwood is far too slow.

I don't think he has poor decision making or skills....anymore.

Look back a couple of years and I was hammering on about Scooter and McGinnity never being best 22 as their skills and decision making was poor and obviously Scooter has improved out if sight but I think McGinnity is now as good as let's say Embley or Rosa.

I love McGinnity's versatility, can be played as a tagger who gets his own ball, on a small fwd, on a HBF or on a wing.

I honestly think Woosha is looking at having Scooter and McGinnity in the team log term as they both offer so much and McGinnity is the natural replacement for Adam Selwood.

What you get from Mcginnity is heart and 300%, that may not mean much for some but if I was to step onto a football field or the battle ground which is what it becomes in a final series I would rather a Mcginnity by my side than a Staker type who has a high ceiling/potential but is soft as butter and when push comes to shove you are unsure what you will get.

I don't think McG is in our best 22 atm but he is not far off and reckon he can be in our best 22 when certain cases exist for a shutdown role. Now that Scooter is becoming more offensive and Adam probably doesn't have too many years left in him, there is no reason why McG cannot fulfill a role in our team down the road.

From experience I would rather heart over skill unless there is a huge gap between them, especially given the pressure style football of the modern age. Teams need a balance of skill and toughness. An imbalance of either won't get you far.
