GOLD Coast Suns superstar Gary Ablett has bought the ultimate bachelor pad to start his life on the Glitter Strip. It is believed Ablett, who became one of Australian sport's richest stars when he signed for the AFL's latest team for a reported $9 million, has shelled out about $3 million for the Broadbeach Waters canal-front mansion where he will live with his brother Nathan.
The modern luxury home, with an underground garage, pool and private jetty, has a timber deck overlooking the water.

For $3.4m, that's kinda of "kit house" like. Anyone with me? I mean it has a pool which is great, and access to the canals, but $3.4m, really?

$3.4million would be mostly land value and sheer number of rooms. Aesthetically it's pretty awful. Gaz is basically a cashed up bogan.

I think the location may be something to do with it.
Unless he has Fevola syndrome he should have it all paid for in a few years.

I wonder what kind of house Fevola is looking for.

Yeah know what you mean.

Never understood why you would spent that much on a place with floor tiles either. Nice floorboards would be a lot better. The room that has floorboards looks like it's crap wood with lots of ugly eyes/knots in it.

The outdoor area overall is nice and the spaces are nice - but it lacks an edge of class you would expect for $3.4 million.

I reckon he has done OK, prices have actually dropped quite a bit in Broadbeach Waters since the GFC and some bargains can be picked up from stressed over leveraged owners. Of course its only the cashed up and wealthy who can afford the 'bargains'. As they say rich get richer!

Good luck to Gazza!

Pretty sure it would be built on a slab, so any floorboards will be basically wooden tiles anyway.

There's some much more impressive homes out my way that you'd probably get for a Million cheaper, but they arent on a Canel within spitting distance of a goldcoast beach.

I've got floorboards straight on the slab - and it's much nicer than tiles.

And i have to disagree about ugly knots etc - buying 1st grade timber without the knots just looks fake - it defeats the whole purpose.

I deliberately chose the S&B timber due to the character of the wood.
