Not putting whole game down to one ball but. he did dance down the pitch, he hit it below waist height and the ump didnt call no ball until it was caught. Seems to happen alot in the gdca, wides no balls etc that are not there. Alot of the people who walk out to umpire try to get themselves involved way too much in games. Good luck to romsey tomorrow night, hop[e they can beat a stacked woodend team.

I was also there and it was definately a no ball. Well above waist height. I also agree with ImChafingAsWeSpeak that hesket don't like the close games, thats twice i've seen them choke this year.

ain't that the truth, just ask teams playing rupo
the best ones are when u get an obvious caught behind that the keeper takes in front of second slip, and the umpire says he didnt hear the edge??????? Happend twice to us in different games against the same side. I know the umpires decision is final but for ****sake.

Semi-finals tmw for gdca 20/20 Romsey v Woodend, Baccus v Ashfield, I'm tipping Romsey V Ashfield final, unless Trout fires up

Lets hope for all our sakes that Trout does not fire up, that man is an absolute pest when he is fired up. Wouldn't have him any other way though...

Tapas 4 President... I just can't picture it.

And i think Tapas has the case of the little pea heart when it comes to playing cricket at the moment, wouldn't even play tomorrow night for some reason. I think its because he bruises too easily...

i'd say he is not taking part tomorrow night because he doesnt want to upstage woodends mac players. president wise, he does not have the respect of the committie for some reason. Id have him pres at my club anyday.

Will Woodend be announcing there new signing at tonights 20/20 match?

Fundraiser at W.C.C

As most would know, last years coach and one of our best performed players over many seasons Adam Johnstone sustained a serious knee injury during the football season. It has come to the clubs attention that Adam has endured a number of out of pocket expenses in his operation and rehabilitation. To help Adam out we are going to conduct a fundraiser on Saturday night 13th of December at the club. The finer details are yet to be organised but there will be a dinner or BBQ, drinks at bar prices and a raffle or two. All profits on the night will go to Adam.

Be there and help the club support Johno.

ANYONE WELCOME!!!!

weather's not looking great for tonights 20/20 i know ho much Mcintyre players hate the rain
wouldnt be hard for their coach or someone in the ranks to run down and put a tarp on the pitch so they can play, wont rain all day. Darren Berry comin down hey, they already got rid of one speedhump why get another one??

Romsey were in a different class than Woodend last night. Its no wonder none of their teams are in finals contention.
Three areas cost them the match last night 1) poor fielding with some very regulation catches being put down 2) the running between wickets was disgraceful (maybe their fitness regime should be questioned) and a suprising batting line up, with their shot makers coming into bat to late to make a difference.
Highlight sof the match a amzing catch by Romsey and Trouts cheese platter.
Anyone know the other score?

To bad the speedhump they got rid of is better than Berry. Another step backwards for Woodend.
No longer the powerhouse they thought they once were. Unfit and look to be out of the finals race in every grade, how can they justify 3K for their coach?? might as well have shoved the money up their butts. That place a rabble.

It's been that way for years. Nothing will change at Woodend while there are still certain people there.

care to elaborate on who these certain people might be?

Or should i just assume that its a case of kicking a side while they are down...
Sure the woodend boys play hard and have plenty to say about most things on ground, but to pot shot certain people is pretty low.

Obviously you are pretty thin skinned coz i no when ever i have played with or against these guys they are always in the rooms drink after a game, so they cant be that bad a club

Theres no point naming people on here, its not what the sites about. I know speedhump and he along with four or five players who did nothing but give their time energy and hard earned over the bar etc. where pretty much shafted out of the club a few years back mainly because of the fact that they didnt fit in with the main crowd down at gilbert gordon. One of these guys was actually assaulted by a former coach on a social day and didnt recieve any support from the club on this matter. Just because they have a drink in the rooms after the game dont make them a great club mate, they have a lot of work to do to get back to being anywhere near a great club. Lets hope they do become a powerhouse again it would be good for the gdca.

I doubt whether you could say it came down to fielding... Romseys scored 127 which should have been manageable at only 1 a ball. As you mentioned , I'd probably say that it was the batting lineup that cost us the game. Wasted a lot of run scoring opportunities early and was too late by the time the McIntyre batsmen got in.

To their credit, all their bowlers bowled in good spots and once the run-rate required started to rise, all the fielders lined the boundaries. Romsey took their catches on the boundary and turned 4's into 1's.

On the topic of the Woodend CC being a rabble, i'd hardy take the result of a friendly Twenty20 game as being the end of the Woodend CC. It has been well documented that McIntyre has a very new team this season and it has filtered down to lower grades who have lost some players to higher grades. The lack of numbers has had a huge influence on the results this season, and i'm sure that a full strength Woodend would match it with most teams they come across. Look no further than the D grade game they won against Hesket...

Interesting comments...
'assaulted by a former coach'... don’t know anything about it. In their defence I know every time i am involved in a game with the woodsmen it is well fought affair. Fair and played in very good spirits compared to other clubs. Would say they are a far stretch from a 'rabble'. They seem to have very good support from the older gents who are around during a games play and have plenty of family (wives, girlfriends, kids etc around). They are a one team town, have a great set of rooms and a great ground.
"Great club", who are struggling a bit on the ground (prob need a good quick bowler in the 1sts). Dont need to spray the shite out of them. Save that for United.

True, the hungemonster can get a bit carried away at times, im sure he has settled down, dont know what u mean bout united, they same as woodend just a shame they have yellow and black as their club colours:D

United- would have to be the club that most blokes like to smash on a weekend. May not be the case in the 1sts (most clubs would like to knock off the marsh) but a majority of GDCA cricketers would like to wipe the floor with united more than any other club. smug cricketers. cant handle the fact they wont be a power house again in the next 5 or so years due to their top heavy aged cricketers.
Thoughts?
