Heard Day is a certainity! He misses all the fun he had when at the Lions!
Wouldn't be suprised if he takes the likes of A. Smith, Callow and McSween with him too.
Wouldn't be suprised if Clifford Attrill and Coxon head back to Warrnambool long drive up every week to play at Winch!

apparently mawson is going with them as well

Re: Geelong and District Football League 2

how can u say belmont will finish bottom 2:confused::confused::confused::confused:

I dont think Belmont will be bottom 2 as I think those spots will be taken by Winch and West.

Anyway if we are making early predictions I will throw mine in (dont give them much credence as my strike right for the carnival shows I am a very poor tipster).

Thompson - experienced side that may have another tilt in them however if they loose the McLeod boys to higher leagues and Harriot, Gardiner, Hyland, Maheras and Wallace decide to not go on that leaves a big hole. Keep the side together top 3 if not out of the 5
Bannockburn - old and now they loose their key man will slide will miss finals 6 - 8
Corio - top 3 no problems as I understand their key players have committed again for '09. Lobbying the league to move the finals to Bakers Oval given the problems with the bigger St Albans surface.
East Geelong - competitive again but need to recruit some pace and a key defender top 5
Bell Post Hill - same as '08 top 5 only inconsistency keeping them out of the top 3
Inverleigh - should improve however others will be waiting for them this year. Will sneak into the finals at the expense of their old sparing partner
Anakie - will win and loose games the shouldn't and again will miss the finals and slide to the lower reaches of the ladder bottom 4
Belmont - same as '08 but with others improving bottom 4
Werribee - will improve on '08 and could be the suprise packet as you never know what happens with recruits 6 - 8
Geelong West - no coach, no recruits as yet cant see them improving on '08 bottom 2
North Geelong - have recruited a legend of Geelong footy as coach. Lkely to attract key players but also understand that there are a number of potential departures. Will improve but not enough to make finals 6 - 8
Winch - will struggle again bottom 2

Who's Matt Dillon?? Where's he moving from??
Was a Bannockburn junior before moving to Bell Park a few years ago. May have played in their premiership. Not sure if he played at Bell Park last year but is 25 or so. Good, tough footballer. Brother of Ross Dillion if that helps.

Played in premiership with Hepburn last year after leaving Bell Park. Hard at it no frills player who from memory plays off a back flank.

Definitely didn'y play in a premiership at Bannockburn. Luke Luttick pulled his pants down in the 2001 GDFL Grandfinal. Apparently he still cops a ribbing over it.

I reckon he played in one at Bell Park though.
Speaking of Banno, any news on them or will they just work on last years squad?

Sounds like he'll be a handy player for them then.. My contacts are telling me that Inverleigh will be in need of a forward after a few departures.. anyone confirm this??

Re: Geelong and District Football League 2

Pulling my pud! that takes up too much energy I was the guy with the massive p*sstank of a beer belly knocking back cans like 2 dollar knocks in Thailand!
Back to Mawson- just taking the piss buddy- he seems like a good bloke!
As for Smith I think that guy will need to perform both on and off the field! Is it true that he is a triple downlow medalist?

I agree that smith will have to perform at both. Isn't that what he is there for. As for the triple downlow medals, not sure about that! Maybe "I'll" make it 4. Or should I say "he". Anyway, I'm back from Airlie Beach (the place where all footy trips should be) and looking forward to pre season starting down at Winch on the 17th of November. 6pm sharp!!

what is the culture like down at winch? do people consider it a place where you can just turn up and play, not have to train etc. is there much receptance to change coz they have had 2 coaches in 2 years, seems like something not quite right.

It's actually four in 20 games...

Round 16 2007- Paul Price
Round 1-12 (?) 2008- Scott Mills
Round 13 (?)-18 2008- ????? (who did take over?)
Round 1 2009- Michael Smith

if u r going 2 look at it that way paul price coached for 5 yrs that would b 4 coachs in 106 games. you have counted paul price for 1 game

Can't comment on the past brother. Only on the future. SB will be doing his best to help get the club to another level. You don't have to be a genius. Hard work, belief and enjoyment are the keys:D

nth geelong have signed some young bloke who i was talking to his name is Ash Hawkins he told me he can play abit and he is getting $120 a game from nth geelong anyone got any info on this bloke(dont know if this is true or wot)

And Michael Smith I've only counted for one game, too. And he'll probably coach more than that...

However, you can't argue with the fact that over 20 games, the Blues will have four coaches...

Surely not. The boy played at Belmont a couple of years ago in the 2s then went to Simpson. Came back at the start of this year, played a couple of games then got dropped (2s again) and went back to Simpson. I like the young fella and coached him, but he couldn't get a game in Belmonts 1s pre Haami when we were really struggling. Couldn't see Scratcher or Fop handing over $120 a week of the clubs hard earned for an occassional 2s player.

matt dillon definately staying at hepburn, all he was chasing was money and inva couldnt come up with the goods, its a win for them as he is no coacking material and after telling bannockburn he would burn their clubrooms down after leaving them i think that hepBURN suits him well. no one would want him at their club. good luck to the money chasing pri..c

bannockburn only have lost tmg and as far as im concerned thats a gain, some of the other forwrds might get a go now. bannock will finish in finals and are going to be succesful once again and feel free to quote me on this later on. inverleigh havent done much over pre season, no pickups i think they have reached the best they will get. prob wont make finals.
