Interesting to review season going into the break. Centrals definitely the surprise packet obviuosly have some depth with the 2s being undefeated. Would like some improvement from Corio who have been ravaged by injury hopefully they will get some boys back on the park as they dont want to lose touch with top 5. Belmont and Inverleigh need to beat some sides above them to make a run at it. Looks like it will be very competitive for the double chance with the top six having claims on their best form. Good luck to all sides.

Thanks Wheely Bin.Apologies to anyone offended down at Newcomb.Like i said i hope the best for every team.Because without opposition you cant play each week. That goes for Blue west too, hopefully they can get a good junior committee to get Blue west born and bred kids coming through their ranks. It's hard to stay up year in year out when you buy players who dont love playing for the club,(no offence but Spengler falls into this category). You have to have a strong club not just a strong team.Go Freo

I don't agree with that comment Scoobie. Spengler, even though him and Anderson were lured over to Blue West from Red West by big money, had remained loyal to the Cheetahs for a number of years. He said on numerous occasions that he wished to remain at Blue West until he finished and if you watched his performances regularly, you could tell that Spengler had plenty of passion playing for the club. It was just an inhouse disagreement that had Spengler move on. Would have had a good five or six years at West.

West actually retain their players quite well. It's just hard getting them to the club at the start, which is the battle. Paul Messar is doing a great job at the moment... he just requires a few extra key players.

Inverleigh have had a couple of good wins but dont know how they are doing it without many big names there, trotter and lewis and then a string of no names. But credit to them for their form at present.

A champion team will team a team of champions anyday, not saying there a champion team but u get wot im mean. it has obviously paid off getting a good junior struture in place rather than just buying a team alot of there so called no names hav come up through the junior ranks. most of there players would be under 23 and a fair few under 20

Couldnt agree more. Well said mate. Stoney's got the young boys well drilled out there by the looks of things. Shaky start but are starting to find there feet and with a few games coming up against weaker opposition may be a chance for the hawks to boost the % a bit

Corio has its reverse draw this sunday if you have nothing on come over for a great day, there will be 2 jumping castles for the kids and plenty of beers and wine, $100 per ticket and 4 people on a ticket

Spengler has given good service to the cheetahs evertime I saw him play he was definitly dangerous and trying for his club
Spengler has been great for us so far, i cant believe guys are questioning what his done at west how many years service does someone have to give before people leave them alone, why not bag wallace or harriot or fopiani or lewis or holzfiend or grigg or tyquin the list goes on and on and on people move to other clubs for different reasons some belive there time is done at that club at its time to move on some want different challenges regardless its the way of the world people move around theres nothing none of us can do about it. Shit 3 years ago we lost 14 players to anakie in one go.
In saying all that congrats to Mathew Cullen he will play his 300th game this year for corio Darren Bennett and Dail Greaves 250 and Barry Otoole his 200th well done to all those boys what great careers they have had so far.

Its good for the comp with so many games having mixed results anyone can win on there day. It would have to be the hardest year this year to pick the top 5 for the end off the season let alone whos gunna play off in a granny.

fair to say if Corio don't win all of their next 3 against Anakie, GW and Winch they won't be playing finals in 2009.. really starting to fall behind

IMO there is only one spot left for grabs

Thomson, Banno, BPH and Werribee are certainties

What do people? think that would be my team very hard to pick, i have put in an extended bench as well .:thumbsu:

i presume you've picked that as the leagues "best" team as opposed to "team of the year" on form yeah? otherwise there are some very questionable selections:D
